The Perfect Spring Pillow

By Manuela Williams

So I’m lightening things up in the living room for spring and I have some new pillows to share with you. Well 1 pillow today since I want to wash my white slipcovers before putting my other new pillows on that seating.  I bought a pretty aqua chevron pillow cover at Hobby Lobby a while ago and I wanted to make a really big yellow ruffled rosette for the center but we have been so busy working on our deck (what a huge exhausting project) that I just never had time.

So for the time being I made a little rosette from some yellow toile fabric and am calling it good because otherwise this pillow would never see the light of day!

The lampshade is from Target – their Threshold line – which I really like since so many things are yellow.  🙂

Yellow Threshold lampshade from Target

A yellow lampshade does not give off much light! But it’s ok because this is the lamp I leave on at night and it emits nice soft glow now that it has a yellow shade.  It’s on a swing arm lamp that I got at the thrift store many years ago (used to be gold and I spray painted it white).

I love the lampshade, and the bright sunny yellow corner. I never see lampshades that cute at Target, I swear you get different merchandise down there in Georgia than we do in Michigan!

That’s weird! You’d think they had the same things at every Target, but then sometimes people post things they get at Michaels and mine doesn’t have it. That lampshade was $15 which isn’t bad for a cute lampshade.

Very pretty corner, Manuela! I love how your eye goes up to the yellow in the cabinet behind the chair, too.

This post is making me smile like a field full of dandelions. Good heavens! Why have I never thought to spray paint an old lampstand before? I have one just like that…it’s high brass and I hate it, but I am liking yours!

Oh yes, so easy to paint. Just tape of the socket and have at it!

Love your pillow with rosette. You made a really pretty rosette using the yellow toile. I have no luck making the rosettes like yours, ends up looking like something I strangled, lol. Your post is great, love the lamp shade and swing arm lamp. I’ll have to look for one of those lamps at Habitat or Goodwill. Love old style painted. Your shade is so pretty with the pillows and table. Nice quick easy spring updo huh?
    Happy days

It took me an hour to make that rosette! I tried making a bigger one but just didn’t have the patience to mess with it – maybe another day. They’re really not as easy as people make it seem when you look up tutorials!

Lovely details that you have changed up for Spring, but then your house always look so nice and crisp and fresh. How are the plans coming along for selling your house?

I love it! It actually matches the bedding I just got. I bought a chevron turquoise reversible floral comforter set. My room is turquoise and yellow. Please come share at the Anything Goes linky, if you have not already.

I am totally loving this spring corner! The touches of yellow are just perfect. How clever to make a rosette for your pillow. Did you say this isn’t the “permanent” one?! I think it looks gorgeous!

    • Manuela says

      April 30, 2014 at 5:18 pm

Thanks so much Melanie. You’re always so sweet! No it’s not permanent. I had a hat pin? A long pin with a cute decorative top (you can see it in the center of the rosette) and I just used that. So I can take it off when/if I get around to making the bigger rosette I was planning on making at first. Or if I just get tired of that look (I’m sure safety pin would work too).
