Homemade Herbal Burn Salve

By Jody Smith

When trying to heal myself inside or outside I hate using products that contain a plethora of unnatural ingredients. Chemicals that you cannot even pronounce just can’t be that good for you! So I often use essential oils and other natural ingredients to create homemade products- they save money and are much better for you. This homemade burn salve helps heal, acts as an antiseptic, and can help alleviate pain from minor sun or other types of burns. Follow this simple tutorial to make your own Homemade Herbal Burn Salve!

I am not attempting to dispense medical advice, rather I am sharing my experience that helps my own healing. I always recommend you use 100% pure therapeutic grade oils no matter what brand you favor. And if a burn is serious, see a doctor.

Homemade Herbal Burn Salve

Ingredients

¼ cup coconut oil
1 T. beeswax
1 T. aloe vera
1 T. honey
2 tsp. vitamin E oil
10 drops lavender essential oil
5 drops frankincense essential oil

Directions

1. In a small 4 oz. mason jar combine coconut oil, beeswax, honey, and vitamin E oil.
2. Place jar in a pot over medium heat. Add water so that it comes to halfway up the jar.

4. Remove jar from pot, allow to cool.
5. Once cool and set, stir in aloe vera, lavender, and frankincense.
6. Place lid and ring on top of jar and secure.

To use: Generously but gently, slather your homemade herbal burn salve onto your burn*.

I keep mine in the refrigerator as the coolness feels so good on sunburned skin. If you leave yours out and it becomes warm it may become very soft- this is okay, it’s still effective. If you like it a bit firmer just pop it in the fridge for a bit to firm it up.

*Serious burns require medical attention and you should seek advice from your doctor.

If you have a minor burn that needs some healing, don't put weird chemicals on it! Instead, make this all-natural herbal burn salve!
