Halloween Chocolate Bark Dessert Recipe.
I love chocolate bark. Probably because the “bark” is just chocolate. But I also love how creative you can be with your bark! You can add any toppings you like and use any chocolate you like (or even mix chocolates together) to create the perfect flavor and look. This time around, I wanted to make a homemade chocolate bark that would be fun to serve my family on Halloween. The result of my experimentations- this Halloween Milk Chocolate Boo Bark dessert!

The candy I chose for my chocolate Boo bark was chosen based on only two criteria: #1- it was fun looking or colorful and/or #2- it’s a candy that I like. Which means that your Boo bark can look totally different! Maybe you can’t stop thinking about gummy worms- add them in! Or maybe you feel Kit Kats on top of chocolate bark is too much chocolate- leave them off. Or maybe you’re one of the lucky people who truly likes the healthier dark chocolate- use that instead of milk chocolate! Customize your Boo bark to your family’s tastes. There’s virtually no way to make it wrong! And this is a great way to use up leftover Halloween candy!
The only thing I would advise is being sure that the candy you add on is either broken up or biteable, to avoid creating a choke hazard. For example, even if you find yourself eating Jolly Ranchers every day in October, leave them off of your Boo bark. They’re too hard to bite, so people will either wind up swallowing them whole (a choke hazard, especially for little kids) or will have to stop and suck on each piece of Boo Bark until the Jolly Rancher is dissolved. But other than things like that, the sky’s the limit when it comes to candy!
Halloween Milk Chocolate Boo Bark
Ingredients
4 cups (two 12-oz. pkgs.) milk chocolate chips
Ghost Peeps (1 Package)
2 Kit Kat bar packages
1 M&Ms plain package (or maybe try a seasonal flavor, like white pumpkin pie M&Ms!)
1 candy corn package (if you have candy corn leftover after making your Boo bark, use it in one of these recipes)
13 x 9″ baking pan
Parchment paper
As I mentioned, you can be creative and add other candy if you like, or leave some of the candy above out.
Instructions
1. Place parchment paper into pan after cutting to appropriate size. Set pan aside.
2. Microwave chocolate chips in large, uncovered, microwave-safe bowl on medium-high (70%) power for 1 minute or on soften chocolate setting. Then stir. The chocolate chips may retain some of their original shape. If so, microwave in additional 10 to 15 second intervals, stirring until chips are melted.
3. Pour into prepared pan on top of the parchment paper.
4. Spread chocolate out as evenly as you can.
5. Let stand for 1 minute.
6. Have fun placing all your candy on top of the melted chocolate.
7. When you are done arranging all of the candy where you want it, place the pan in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
8. Pull pan out of refrigerator and begin breaking the chocolate into chunks of Boo Bark with your hands.
Then serve and enjoy!
