Delicious Baked French Toast Breakfast Casserole.
Breakfast food is one of my ultimate favorites because of all the variety you can choose from. You can make food that is savory or opt for recipes that are on the sweeter side. It depends on my mood which type of meal I want, but one thing is for sure- that I love breakfast! I believe it when people say it’s the most important meal of the day. I am always thrilled when I can make a dish or two that I can prep ahead of time. This french toast bake is perfect for meal planning. Especially if you are having a brunch or are feeding a crowd. You can prepare it the night before and bake it the next morning so it’s hot, fresh, and ready to devour.
Irresistible French Toast Bake Recipe
Ingredients
1 loaf (13 ounces) day old French bread, cubed
6 eggs
½ cup heavy cream
2 ½ cups milk
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup sugar
For pecan topping:
1 cup pecans, roughly chopped
½ cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 tablespoons butter
Directions
1. Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
2. Place French bread in baking dish.
3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, cream, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and sugar until combined. Pour over french bread.
4. Cover casserole with aluminum foil and place in refrigerator for 2 hours or overnight.
5. When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
6. For the pecan topping, drop pecans over the top of the casserole. In a food processor, cut together the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and butter until combined. Sprinkle over casserole. Re-cover with aluminum foil.
7. Bake the covered casserole for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 20 to 25 minutes or until the casserole is cooked through and the eggs are completely set.
8. Serve with your favorite syrup, powdered sugar, and/or fresh fruit. Let cool and enjoy!
