I hope it’s starting to feel like spring where you are! The daffodils are in bloom and the trees are budding here and I’m in the mood for some spring decorating! I have a really simple DIY Easter craft for you today which includes a printable template. This button craft would be a cute project to get the kids involved in or even for a girls crafting night!

This pretty framed DIY button egg is easy to make and will look so cute as part of your spring and Easter decor!
DIY Easter Button Egg Craft
Materials:
8.5 x 11 piece of white cardstock
Printable Egg Pattern
Various sizes of pink, teal and purple buttons (but you of course can use whatever colors work for you)
hot glue
old toothbrush
your favorite 8×10 frame
Directions:
1. Using the link above, print the egg pattern onto white card stock. Trim the page to 8×10.
2. Begin with any color and hot glue the buttons onto the pattern. Start with the outline of the color block and then fill in the center. Gaps in the center are fine, as long as they are small enough to be covered by the second layer of buttons.
3. Once you’ve completed the first layer of buttons, add the second and if desired, a third layer. Rub your old toothbrush over the buttons to remove any hot glue threads.
4. Now let’s frame your Easter Egg masterpiece! Open the frame and remove the glass. Place the egg in the front of the frame, then the glass and backer.
Close the frame and hang where desired or use it as part of your spring/Easter vignettes!
Sources: I used Favorite Findings Buttons found at Wal-Mart and JoAnn stores. I used two bags of the teal/coral color buttons for the teal section. One bag of the purple buttons and one bag of pink – all 130 count. If you want an additional third level of buttons, I’d suggest buying another bag of each color.

Thanks Theresa! Get those grandkids to help you make one 🙂
Kathy @ Creative Home Expressions says
That is so pretty, Manuela! I should make one since I made a button heart for Valentine’s Day. I could continue the theme! : ) Love the colors you used here. I actually need more colorful buttons to do this (I tend to collect neutrals). Pinning!
Manuela Williams says
Thanks Kathy! You should totally do this! Yes, I have tons of neutral buttons too. I bought a bunch a few years ago on etsy – (they’re supposed to be vintage) and I made a small wire heart wreath with them.

This is too cute! I read the instructions TWICE! What is the old toothbrush for? Did I miss that part?
lol…
I have tons of old buttons so probably make this with the grandkids. 😉
…but what about the toothbrush?
Manuela Williams says
ooops! I added that part in. It’s just to rub over your buttons to remove any hot glue threads. Sorry about that but thanks for catching it. I’m sure other’s had the same question! 🙂

Now I wish I had a bunch of buttons laying in wait. I love the tip about the old toothbrush! I hate those hot glue threads.
Manuela Williams says
I know I don’t like those threads either. The winter wreath I did was all pom poms hot glued to a wreath form and I swear I would think I had all the threads and then find more! Wish I could have used a toothbrush on that project!
