Last year I started a Homemade Solutions Series and somehow got sidetracked. I’m going to start it back up since we’re going to be in our new home next week and I’ll finally have more time (Yay!) and making things from scratch is going to be a priority. So to start this series off (again) as Nesting Skills. I’m sharing a easy homemade cinnamon coffee syrup (although you could also use this in place of store bought syrup on pancakes).

Treat yourself to some delicious coffee that tastes like a specialty flavor and give this recipe a try (or try it on pancakes/waffles). It would also make a wonderful gift for a coffee lover (especially if you package it in a pretty glass bottle).
Have you ever made a flavored syrup before?

You’re so sweet! I wasn’t supposed to be able to paint but when we had the walk through before signing the lease, I told the owner I really didn’t think I could live with the paint in the living room and dining room (it’s like an army green/brown) so he said I was free to paint!! So I’ve been painting the living room all week – white! That room has long narrow windows and it doesn’t get great light at the moment. Maybe that will change as the trees loose their leaves. So I thought white would be good. Usually I go with yellow but I want to try different things with this house since we’ll probably only be there a year. I sold all my toile curtains at the garage sale I had Saturday!!! I also sold all my roosters except the vintage ones! I tried to sell a lot of my transferware and nobody wanted them. I was shocked. People kept saying they reminded them of their grandmother’s china?? It was very odd what people liked and didn’t like.

I’ve never made a flavoured syrup other than Maple syrup, from tapping our own trees for sap and boiling it down. Does that count? Oh yes, and lemon ginger simple syrup for lemonade in the summer or as a hot comfort drink when down with a cold or flu.

Lucky you that you can tap your own trees! We have a couple of Silver Leaf Maples and I always wanted to try to do that with them.
