Ever find a print where you don’t like the picture inside but love the frame? Or maybe you just have a bunch of frames and don’t know what to do with them. I’m always picking up interesting frames at the thrift store. I did some searching for some new ideas for using those frames. Here are 15 creative repurposed picture frame ideas.
I hope you find some inspiration!
15 Creative Repurposed Picture Frame Ideas
- Pick them up for cheap. You can find picture frames at garage sales, thrift stores, or the dollar store. Their color can be changed, along with their texture and other things about them.
- Keep the glass. If your project doesn’t require the glass, I like to keep mine and use them for other projects!
- Clean them. If your frame had a life before, be sure to clean the dirt and grime so your new paint or texture goes on smooth and you get the desired outcome.

A lot of fun! I’ve been hanging empty frames for a long time. Think I first saw it in Country Livng in the late 80s. Glad to see it coming around again. It also works beautifully to add more presence to a smaller framed painting. I repinned the frame as a wreath that you pinned and it was repinned over a dozen times in the first fifteen minutes. I thought that I might find it here this morning. Hope that you get that housework done!

Hi Manuela,
Thank you for the comment on the blog about the settee. Hey question for you. I want to ad a sense of whimsy to the settee by shaking it up as I bought a parisian broadcloth for the material in beige/black. However the base/arms of the chair I don’t want to do Black, or beige or white. What do you think would be a fun color to just through into the mix? I almost thought Robbins Egg blue or Turquoise.
Advice please! 🙂 I’ve included the blog post with the settee.
Thank you, Viola
