I hope it’s starting to feel like spring where you are! The daffodils are in bloom and the trees are budding here and I’m in the mood for some spring decorating! I have a really simple DIY Easter button craft for you today which includes a printable template.
This pretty framed DIY button egg is easy to make and will look so cute as part of your spring and Easter decor!
DIY Button Egg Craft
8.5 x 11 piece of white cardstock
Printable Egg Pattern
Various sizes of pink, teal and purple buttons (but you of course can use whatever colors work for you)
your favorite 8×10 frame
1. Using the link above, print the egg pattern onto white card stock. Trim the page to 8×10.
2. Begin with any color and hot glue the buttons onto the pattern. Start with the outline of the color block and then fill in the center. Gaps in the center are fine, as long as they are small enough to be covered by the second layer of buttons.
3. Once you’ve completed the first layer of buttons, add the second and if desired, a third layer. Rub your old toothbrush over the buttons to remove any hot glue threads.
4. Now let’s frame your Easter Egg masterpiece! Open the frame and remove the glass. Place the egg in the front of the frame, then the glass and backer.
Close the frame and hang where desired or use it as part of your spring/Easter vignettes!
Sources: I used Favorite Findings Buttons found at Wal Mart and JoAnn stores. I used two bags of the teal/coral color buttons for the teal section. One bag of the purple buttons and one bag of pink – all 130 count. If you want an additional third level of buttons, I’d suggest buying another bag of each color.
