I have a lot of plates! I literally have a boxes of plates in my garage. I try to rotate them in my house because I do love them all and want to be able to enjoy them (that’s why I’ve collected them).

So I’m always looking for ways to display my addiction collection. I have these little Royal Crownford ironstone plates with sayings on them. I find the sayings charming and special and they’re the real reason I collect these plates. This is my favorite one:
The side of this china cabinet faces out – you can see it as you walk down the stairs. A perfect blank slate!
So I hung some of these plates on the side of my china cabinet. I did use plate hangers but I’m sure that if your plates are light enough you can probably use some sort of 3M product instead.
Do you hang your plates someplace other than the wall? Maybe the fireplace surround or a bookcase?

I love all of your transferware plates. I usually just hang mine on the wall. Of course, I use to break them and hang them everywhere -lol…but I am not making mosaics anymore.
They’re beautiful, Manuela! I do so love dishes. Sold a lot when I moved here. Probably collect more to replace them. Kind of sorry I didn’t bring the transferware I got at an estate sale. But there will be other chances. I love what you do with them!

How charming! I love the saying too. Very quaint. It’s such a lovely scene, too, with the castle in the background.
Manuela, I’ve been looking for plates with sayings since you first featured some several years ago now. I have yet to find any! I think that everyone must treasure them, which is a good thing. I want to hang some the new way with glue and a round hanger thingy rather than the plate hangers. I find plate hangers very hard on dishes, don’t you? I do love the fence plate rack that John made me. Another great way to display them outside. A tip I learned from you!
Yes, I’ve seen those round things. I have a ton of plate hangers and haven’t had a problem with them yet so I’ll keep using them.
Look on ebay – that’s where I got most of mine years ago.
Oh no, you had to show me those beautiful plates, didn’t you?! lol I have a plate obsession too and not much room to display them. Like you, I have a set of plates hung on the side of a bookcase in my office/guestroom. My plates are small though, so I was able to use the 3M strips to hang them. There is a product out there – can’t remember what it’s called, but it’s some kind of sticky “disk” – where you can hang even large plates. Hobby Lobby sells them in their framing department.
That space is just perfect for those little plates! I’ve not seen the ones with sayings on them and really love them, I’m a plate freak too! I don’t have nearly enough wall space in my home for all my decorating needs…I just need hubby to build me a few more walls right?
Your collections is so pretty Manuela.
I too am addicted to plates, and as I’m swiftly running out of wall space so there is a display on the side of a bookcase ;o)
(Hubs says many more holes in the walls and they’ll crumble!)
Beautiful plates! I like the way you added them to your hutch. I haven’t hung plates anywhere but a wall grouping, but I have tucked one or two among my bookshelf. I like the idea of hanging picture frames on a large bookshelf as well.
What a problem to have. 🙂 I have that one too and I love it! Your plates look fantastic on the side of the furniture.
You have a pretty collection of plates. I don’t have any hanging now.
Enjoy your day.
I’ve never seen plates like those…how charming! Love how you used them on the side of the hutch for an interesting display!
I love plates, too! Your home is so beautiful.
I don’t have a plate hanging on the side of my tall, yellow cabinet in the kitchen but I have a rooster with a hook there. I change what is on the hook once in awhile, usually with the seasons.
Manuela! I love these with the writing on them. I’ve never seen them before except here on your blog. I may have to a bit of online searching. How fun!
I’m glad I’m not the only one that has to rotate my plate collection! But I love them all! Good idea for finding new places to display them. Love your new doggy. Mimi
What a beautiful post! I absolutely love…love…love red and white toile! I have incorporated many ed and white touches in my home, too. Your home is so welcoming…so inviting.
Thanks for sharing,
Blessings,
Carolynn
They look great there! No, I can’t think of a place around here where the plates are used beyond the wall. I have so much wall space yet left that I need to fill IT first. I wish I had more confidence and style in wall decoration. Plates are a favorite thing of mine.
I love plates, too! I have them on my bedroom wall, on stands on the mantel and the entertainment center and hung throughout the house. I have plates that are rotated with the seasons – and my moods. I’m not sure we can have too many plates!

Is having tons of plates an addiction ?? I did not realize that ;-p Ohh thank you for the tip, I will remember this for alllllll my plates xox Clarice
I have an old plate that I found in a Goodwill store years ago which I absolutely adore! I am originally from England and this plate reminds me of home. The words on it are, “If you work and do your best you’ll get the sack like all the rest, but if you laze and bugger about you’ll live to see the job right out. The work is hard, the pay is small, so take your time and sod’em all, cause when your dead you’ll be forgot, so don’t try and do the bloody lot, or on your tombstone neatly lacquered, these three words ‘Just Bleeding Knackered.’ Isn’t that hilarious? Best saying on a plate ever! You might have to be British to understand it though!
