I guess a gallery wall can be a collection of anything – empty frames, mirrors, family photos, plates, vintage maps, clock faces, whatever you like (or it can be eclectic and a mix of things but with a theme or unifying element).
It’s been so hot here that we didn’t venture outside last week but worked on little things in the house and one was to move our gallery wall of crosses down one wall next to the entrance to the kitchen (so you see it when you come up the stairs from the front door).

Actually Flaming June and the crosses switched places. I love where she is now because she has a lovely spot light on her that makes here look even better than before.
My husband started this collection and the crosses come from various places – the smaller ones I’ve found at thrift stores.
I think they artfully fill up this large blank wall and take attention away from the thermostat.
Of course the wall will change as the collections grows. I’d like to take the collection all the way down to the air vent.
Anyway, it’s amazing how much of a difference a little switcharoo has made! We have a whole new appreciation of Flaming June and our cross collection!
Are you a fan of gallery walls in general or do you think it’s just too cluttery for your tastes 🙂 ?

I like your gallery wall a lot – such a pretty collection of crosses. I was going to do a gallery wall going up my steps, but lighting is not right and I am not interested in investing in anything more at this point.
Enjoy your evening.

I do like a gallery wall – and yours looks terrific! I never even noticed the thermostat until you called attention to it. Great job!
Manuela says
Thank you Stephanie! I need to get a few more to go underneath it so I’ll be on the lookout for more crosses when I go to Goodwill.

I was just thinking today how it has been awhile since I saw a new post from you.
I love the crosses, they are gorgeous!
Hehehe, my small hallway has a gallery of family photos. I had to smile because one wall is set up to “blend in” not one but two thermostats. When we had to put a new one in, the guy literally put a new one in and left the old thermostat there, too.
I switch things around once in awhile, too.
I’m trying to keep the tomato plants alive but even the zinnias are looking bad in the garden. There is about a 30% chance of rain for the next three days but that has been the way it was all summer.
The deck flowers aren’t bad other than none of them liked the week of 100-105 degree heat (which may be in the long term forecast again). Well, except the geraniums. They seem to love the heat.
Manuela says
Hi Brenda,
Mmmm….I thought I posted last week?
We are now in a everyday afternoon thunderstorm pattern. Yay! My poor trees were starting to get stressed from the heat and were losing their leaves.
Wow can’t believe he didn’t replace the old thermostat with the new one!
Vee says
I like them a lot. I even have one. It consists of family photos and mirrors. I like your interpretation very much and I like the new yellow and I like the painting and how much more you can appreciate her in the new spot on the wall. Keep staying cool.
Stacey says
I just love collections of crosses like that! They are beautiful and so meaningful.

Hello Manuela~ What a lovely idea for decorating a hallway! It’s so nice that you and your husband have been collecting them together. My sis lives up there near you and I know how hot it has been! We have had such a time keeping flowers and plants alive down here and I know you’ve had worse heat. Keep Cool 🙂
Manuela says
Thank you Donna! Yes, it’s been really bordering on unbearable and I struggled to at least keep my veggie’s alive. But we’re finally in a more seasonable weather pattern.
gloria says
Hi Manuela. Good to see you. Wow!! I love this hallway and you’ve given me ideas. I definitely am going to start looking for crosses. Love what you’ve done. Hope everything is okay with you and yours. Take care.
Manuela says
Glad I could spark a useful idea!

Love gallery walls – and yours is beautiful!

I love the look of a gallery wall – and yours is beautiful – but I wouldn’t even know where to start with one! LOL Gorgeous crosses!

Every wall in my house is a gallery wall. It freaks some people out. We live in such a dusty environment that it’s hard to keep things clean all the time. But since I have a lot of Middle Eastern and Indian antiques, my girlfriend says the dust lends to the ambience. Ha! That’s what good friends are for. 🙂 Other folks think the look is cozy, inviting and homey, but wouldn’t want it for themselves (because they feel the need to have everything spic and span all the time). I can’t imagine living in spaces with no personality. Your cross collection is lovely and makes a big statement all grouped together like that. Hope you are well. Have a great day. Tammy
Manuela says
LOL! She’s a great friend. Yes, I was wondering what people thought. Some I’ve seen just look messy to me and others I just love!
Debbie says
I love a gallery wall when it’s done beautifully like yours is. I’ve tried a time or two but I still haven’t mastered the art of display. I love the crosses! I also love the way you have that large mirror at the end of the hall to reflect it all. That’s such a wonderful touch.
Manuela says
Thank you Debbie!
A girlfriend of mine had the end of her hall mirrored professionally. They even mirrored the switch that’s there for the attic fan! I thought it was a great idea but didn’t want to spend to have it done so I thought a big mirror (from TJX) would do the same thing basically.
Deanna says
I have a nice hallway that needs ‘something.’ Maybe a gallery wall is it! Now to decide just what to put there…..
Love your yellow!
Deanna
Manuela says
Deanna – I’m sure you’ll come up with something. A wall of family photos in frames that are all the same color?

I just finished my own wall of crosses and I LOVE it! Yours is gorgeous! Crosses fill the wall beautifully and can be added to:) Love it! Have a blessed day dear friend, HUGS!

Your gallery wall looks like it belongs in a gallery! Absolutely gorgeous 🙂
Tracy says
It looks lovely! I like gallery walls. I don’t think they are too cluttery at all. 🙂
Cindy says
I really like that wall of crosses. You have a great mix of sizes and types. We have a small wall going up the stairs that houses a couple of my husband’s collections. The first is a large frame full of political buttons, and then up the wall are several large vintage map printing blocks. We can’t really switch them around though, the wall is old plaster!
Julie says
Love the Crosses Gallery. It definitely speaks a message…And Flaming June…(is that your name for her or is that really the title of the print????) is beautiful. The light casting a glow on her really does give it an extra measure of prominence…I think! ~ ALL looks fantastic Manuela. I DO hope your heat wave slows down. I hear GA is getting rain. We are here today in IA…(a little)
Hugs and stay cool!! “enjoyed”!

Manuela, I love the idea of gallery walls & yours looks fabulous! Your cross collection is lovely. Thanks for sharing! We’ve had terriblly hot temps here in WV more often than not this summer but we were treated to a good soaking rain for most of today & it was relatively cool. My flowers loved it & I harvested two zuchinni … your garden pics were a huge part of me trying my hand at it in the first place so thank you! 🙂

I love your gallery wall of interesting crosses, a very meaningful collection! The yellow is beautiful, and so is the picture of Flaming June! I think it’s exciting to switch things around, never boring and cheap fun!
It seems to be hotter that usual everywhere! I suppose we just have to cope with it and drink lots of fluids and water the garden alot!
Have a sweet summer!

I really like your cross gallery and Flaming June has always been a favorite of mine. I have a gallery wall of mostly black & white photos. Love it.

Hi Manuela,
I love your Gallery Wall.
Over the years we have had gallery walls and my husband put up narrow shelving in most rooms of our house and they were used to display small bottles. These shelves have been taken down and put up again many times. We are committed collectors of anything interesting.
God Bless
Barb from Australia

Your cross gallery is wonderful! I love the idea of expanding it down the hallway. It’s always nice to know you have room to ‘grow’ your collection!
