What’s Blooming In My Garden This Week

By Manuela Williams

The weather has just been so deliciously gorgeous lately! I’ve been spending a quite a few hours each day outside and enjoying it so.  I thought I’d share a few photos of what’s blooming in my Atlanta garden this week.

yellow iris

The trees are about all leafed out and lots of  flowers are blooming like these yellow iris .

The azaleas are blooming.

blooming azaleas

The white ones are so beautiful when the first bloom. Unfortunately the white blossoms turn brown as they start to fade.

primroses

These are some of the primroses I used in my table top spring garden in February that I planted outside last month.  They seem to be revived by all the rain we’ve had (although looks like something been nibbling the leaves).

yellow lady banks rose

My yellow Lady Banks rose is fading a bit but still looking wild and lovely. There’s a crepe myrtle behind it and it grows up the branches. Which makes the crepe myrtle look like it has little yellow flowers until it leafs out.

garden mirror

The timing of the two is just perfect. If you didn’t check out my written word mirror project at Kathy’s blog when I posted it before – here’s the link again Creative Home Expressions

perennial salvia

I have perennial salvia in lots of places.

Here’s some salvia in front of huge artichoke! I love salvia – it’s got beautiful blue-violet flowers.

What’s blooming in your garden? Hopefully no one is getting anymore snow!

Everything looks so pretty, Manuela! I think I’m going to start getting the plants that I want to put around the condo this year. I think our weather has stabilized enough for me to get to it. It was so nice to come back from our trip to California and see that things were blooming and leaves were out on trees.

    Rub it in, hehehe.

We had a wind chill in the 20s a couple hours ago. Weird weather continues.

So pretty – Your garden has really taken off. Rain came thru here during night here, and everything in bloom here is water soaked.
Hope you are having a good week.

Oh, thank you for sharing your flowers with us!

My first daffodil opened yesterday and today it’s snowing again. Not sticking to the ground, thankfully, but still…

Although things are greening up here, you are so many weeks ahead of us here in MI. I really enjoy seeing all the colors and blooms you have. Thanks again for sharing!

Thank goodness it’s not sticking! Daffodils are some of the first flowers of spring so you know it’s right around the corner for you!

We’ve got only some scilla and mini-daffs blooming yet. It’s another cold, wet day and the only good thing is that the forecast for snow has changed to just rain. Thankful for small beauties this very weird and odd spring.

Yes the weather is weird all over. It almost feels like early summer here!

Oh your spring garden looks so lush and beautiful with color. Not even the forsythia has bloomed here yet. I have a handful of grape hyacinths and am happy for them.

Your flowers are all beautiful. I love the color of your iris.
We are just slightly behind you here in NC. Our azaleas and dogwoods are blooming and it won’t be long until the iris will be too.

Nothing yet, so I am drooling over your garden! Everything is beautiful!

I see lots of things in your yard I would love to plant! I have some pink double knock out roses just beginning to bloom, irises in full bloom and a purpled flowered plant with spikey green foiliage that I can’t remember the name of. It opens in the morning and closes in the afternoon. Old fashioned perrennial. My daughter gave me an annual primrose back in February and after seeing yours planted outside, i repotted mine and took it out doors. Hope that helps it because it looks bad.

I have that purple spikey plant too. It just showed up in my yard one year – don’t know what it’s called either 🙂

I planted my primroses in a shady spot and we’ve had a good bit of rain since – they seem to be thriving! I know they’re annuals but I’m hoping they come back next year. I have begonias I planted last year that are coming back!

        Manuela,

Is this what your plant looks like?

This is what mine is. I originally dug it up in an old cemetery and now I have a lot of it.

In the neighborhood we have forsythia blooming, and in our garden we have some hyacinths and tulips just starting to bloom. The pear tree is blooming too.

Can’t wait for roses and salvia and echinacea, daisies, black eyed susan, day lilies, to bloom.

I am SO JEALOUS! Here in La Pine, OR, we have NO FLOWERS whatsoever! The only thing I have is a few violas that survived the winter snows… they are peakng their heads up…. and some rhubarb is coming up but that’s all! Your salvia is gorgeous and I’m so envious. You are so lucky!

      Thank you Marilyn!

Oregon is a beautiful state. I went to school in Beaverton and I’ve been trying to get my husband to agree to move to either Portland or Eugene in the next few years.

It’s just lovely in your garden. Our azaleas have pretty much run their course. Our dogwoods, too. I guess if I want some color around here, I need to get my flowers in the ground.

    Hi Manuela,
I adore all of your blooms, it makes me impatient for my garden. Nothing is blooming here, I have heard that some people have crocuses, but not me, I need to plant some.
    Hugs, C9indy6

Oh to have warmer temps! Greenery is just beginning to emerge from the ground and there are a few blooms, too. The furnace runs every morning because it’s chilly- but at least no snow!
Your garden will be pretty again this year, I’m sure, Manuela. 🙂

It is SO much fun to view your gorgeous garden!! ( way ahead of mine up in PA! 🙂

MY garden is some pots on the front porch 🙂 Some sweet pea and poppy seeds starting and some salad bowl lettuce.

Violets and dandelions in the backyard and a crap apple almost ready to bloom. That’s about it here for now! 🙂 I HAD some daffodils but the grandkids picked them last weekend! They thought I would like that. Well, no….but of course I had to pretend to be thrilled 🙂
