Thanksgiving Decorations

By Manuela Williams

Now that Halloween is over it’s time to move on to Thanksgiving! Normally I take all the china in my living room china cabinet out and put in my brown transferware, but I’m a bit too busy this year to do all that. So I just put a few transferware pieces on my dining room shelves along with a few other Thanksgiving decorations.

I’m keeping the burnished gold that I started adding with the dining room  chalkboard frame and painted a few things that color for Thanksgiving.

That turkey was multi-colored when I got him a few years ago. He’s been lots of different colors – last year he was white!

Turkey plates

I have lots of different patterns of brown transferware so it was hard choosing just a few pieces!

I have two shelves above the black chest (where I keep all my dining room linens). This is the top shelf

Johnson Brother's Bless This House serving platter

The next shelf has my Johnson Brothers Friendly Village  “Bless This House” serving platter and a few other pieces from that pattern.

glass owl

I got this glass owl at Target after Halloween at 50% off!

gold gourds under glass

I painted some faux gourds and acorns gold and put them under a mini cloche.

Love those brown transferware dishes with the Thanksgiving theme. And the trays ( ? ) on the wall. Oh with everything combined it is just so pretty, Manuela!

I love what you’ve done for Thanksgiving. I recently decided I need to add some brown transferware to my décor. I don’t have any yet – but I’ll soon be on the hunt! Your home always looks so cozy! I was thinking of painting a multicolored turkey I’ve had for a long time. You inspired me. My paint brush will be busy soon!

The owl is so cute! I didn’t think to go in there after Halloween. And your brown transfer ware? I’m in LOVE with your transfer ware.

Believe it or not, I know some people already are decorating for Christmas, but I can barely get my mojo going for thanksgiving. Good on you for getting started, and I must say your plates are so classic and lovely. Years ago I worked as a bridal consultant for Macy’s and I remember these pieces were so popular we could barely keep them in stock. Classics are the best.

Your brown tranferware is so nice, is it 3 different patterns? I always like your bright colors and I am also liking all this brown, it’s very warm and comforting.

Very beautiful! I have a couple of the same turkey plates in your holder. Love them! You have collected some beautiful pieces. I have just 5 pieces of Johnson Bros. that I have found at thrift shops. I had not heard of Johnson Bros. when I found my first piece. Just liked it. After I bought it I saw it all over blogland. lol! Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving season!

Lovely bright colors have my heart forever, but the warmth of browns and golds are so comforting and so very right at this time of year.

I don’t do much Thanksgiving decor, but today, I did make some tags for a dinner game on Thanksgiving Day.

Very pretty, Manuela! I love the Johnson’s Brothers Friendly Village pieces. I only have a few that I’ve picked up here and there at antique malls, but they are enough for us.

It’s all so pretty! I love your transfer ware collection. Thanksgiving decor is fairly sparse around here this year with a new job on my plate, but I did manage to decorate the dining room buffet and place all of my autumn dishes in the china cabinet. It is simple but definitely seasonable!

    Hope all is well,
    Jen

I love brown and black transfer ware. Every time I see a piece in Home goods I’m tempted to buy it until I remember that I don’t have another iota of space for another collection. Thanks for sharing yours.
