My Christmas Mantel

By Manuela Williams

Hi everyone! OK this is THE simplest Christmas mantel I’ve ever done in my whole life 🙂 ! Since we made the mantel ourselves, I made sure to make a nice deep one so I would always have lots of room for stuff.  But like I said in my last post, I’m keeping Christmas simple this year! So this year I have just 5 things on my mantel ~ amazing~ I know!

Christmas Ornament Wreath

My Merry Christmas ornament wreath. I tell you, decorating with red comes in handy this time of year!

I used 2 large red lanterns which I filled with ornaments.

There’s a glittery star shaped Christmas box that I used in the center.

I  flanked the box with two red glass decorations.

White Ektrop chair and Christmas pillow

I had to move “my chair” so that the Christmas tree could go in it’s usual spot in front of the window and I’m enjoying the change of view!

I’m all done with my decorating and  just have a few little additional Christmas touches to share with you next week!

Love it! I am starting to like a less cluttered look for my own home, so this looks just right to me:)

I love the way a house decorated with a lot of reds looks at Christmas. Yours is always lovely!

I did a little less this year but more than planned. Mostly because I have some items I enjoy getting out for one month a year.

Last year I think I had every ornament and decoration I owned displayed throughout the house but this year I concentrated on the living room-dining area and put just a couple items in the kitchen and a couple in the family room. I guess I can still remember how long it took to put everything away last year!

I also took another bag of items to the thrift shop, downsizing more by getting rid of more items that have no nostalgic meaning to my family.

I think it is perfect … simple, yet completely expresses your personality! I love the wreath. Did you make that one? The traditional colors of the holiday are just fab!

Thank you! Nope that one’s from Target I just added a few things. I had another one from Target a few years ago when they did vintage Christmas ornament wreaths but some of the balls got broken somehow in storage so I had to get a new one. They aren’t hard to make if you have the time.

      Hi Penny!

Thanks! I got that pillow back in September at Garden Ridge! I went to see what summer cushions they had on sale and they hardly had any and already had Christmas stuff out!

    Love the ornament wreath!

Having red décor does come in handy at Christmas time. Many years ago I had an employee who married in December for one very economical reason: Their church would already be beautifully decorated. She chose red and black as the colors for her wedding. She only had to decorate aisle pews for the wedding.

I love this room and would never have thought of the yellow walls with all the beautiful Christmas decorations. Do you mind telling us what your paint color is on your walls?!

  30. Manuela says

    December 11, 2013 at 6:00 pm

Thank you Debbie! Almost all the walls in my home are yellow 🙂 The fireplace wall is a Benjamin Moore color called Squished Squash. The walls in the rest of the living room are a lighter shade of yellow from Benjamin Moore called Moonlight.

Red and white is such a classic, cheerful color combination, and none more so than in your lovely home Manuela. I’m impressed that you did the mantel yourselves. It looks beautiful! We are renting right now, and whoever did the mantel should be shot. Well, maybe not shot, but a good spanking at least. It’s about 4″ deep!! Really?! I’m jealous!

    (Love that pillow too)

      Thanks Doreen!

I know some people just give you a little sliver to work with. They probably don’t think that people might actually want to put something on the mantel! I really wanted a deep mantle since I like to layer things.
