I Heart My China Cabinet

By Manuela Williams

Primhearts
Oh yes I do! It was a Mother’s Day gift about 5 years ago and it’s one of my favorite pieces of furniture. It’s always so much fun to re-arrange my dishes and it’s a no cost way for me to get my decorating fix when I want to change something.

I decided to add some Valentine decorations this year. Usually I do a little something in my dining room or on my fireplace mantel but I’m really enjoying the way both of these look right now so I’m leaving well enough alone!
mosaicheart1
See this beautiful mosaic heart. Penny from Lavender Hill Studio made it for me a few years ago. I was lucky enough to win one of her giveaways. She used this plate behind the teapot for one for inspiration.

I made this wreath with  some red and white yarn.

yarn heart wreath

I was so inspired by these wreaths at Apartment Therapy last year and I really wanted to make one for Christmas but never got around to it. So I thought I’d try something similar for Valentines Day.
Step1

All I did was wrap some yarn around a heart form. I did have to use a few dots of hot glue at the pointy part to keep the yarn from slipping.
Wreath2
Then I tied red yarn on randomly.
bow

Made a yarn bow and hung a little red and white wooden heart inside my wreath. Very easy project but definitely something you want to do while watching a movie. Winding all that yarn is a bit tedious!

Here are a few more pictures of my china cabinet.

The middle shelf is brown transferware. Mostly Johnson Brother’s Friendly village.

The bottom shelf is a fun mix of things right now.  Ummm…these are my eyeless toile birds that I made a few years ago LOL!

I did a little more Valentine decorating but I’ll save that for Laurie’s Valentine Party on February 12th. Why don’t you join in too – the more the merrier!

We are having another rainy weekend in ATL. I plan on staying in and going through my linens to get them ready to put in that black bureau.  I figure now is a good time to see what I want to keep and what doesn’t appeal to me anymore, plus quite a few need ironing. So I’ll iron them and watch a movie (love the streaming movies/tv shows from Netflix).

I do hope you are all having lovely weekends and thanks a million for taking the time to stop by today!

XO
