Guess What I’m Doing Today

By Manuela Williams

primroses
Can you guess what I might be doing today?
browntransferware

redtransferware

redharlequinplates

Chinacabinet

Yep, playing with dishes and adding some Valentine decorations!
Votives
Totally unrelated….Have you bought your primroses yet?  I bought two and put them in green mercury glass votives that I got at Big Lots! I went in to look at their garden benches (one of mine is falling apart) and took a look at the home decor area and they have lots of Mercury Glass items. So look there if you’ve been searching for some.
Back to playing….

Have a great weekend everyone!

What a darling Valentine Tree! I did something similar last year with little hearts I made out of fabric.
Have fun decorating! Can't wait to see!

Cute cute pillows by the way!

Oh I love your flowers. I had no idea what Primrose looked like but I’m liking it. I may need to run out to Lowes and buy a few for my home.
You have such a beautiful dish collocation!

Sadly, primroses don't do well for me. They'd do fine indoors, but they don't make it outdoors for some reason. I did buy a cyclamen and have it in the sunroom (which is heated and cooled), and I think it should do well there. I also (after seeing your pictures) have a hyacinth (which is about to bloom!) growing in a small transferware cup/bowl. I even put the moss on top of the dirt! PRETTY!!

Could you tell me the name of the pattern for the red transferware plate that has the embossed looking white border? I collect red transferware and have not seen that pattern. Thanks!

Oh so pretty! Big Lots, eh? Hmmm…

I love to see your Friendly Village set out on display and must add that I've not seen the platter that says "Bless This House." Anyway, it gives me a little thrill to think that we share a love for those dishes.

Have fun sprucing things up for Valentine's Day.

Sounds like a fun day to me. I'm about to do the same. I pulled out my box of valentine decorations last night, and now I'm ready to play. LOL
Your post makes me want to go buy some primroses.

I thought you must be playing with your hutch display when I saw the piles of dishes:>) Fun, and you always do such pretty things. I love the mercury glass votives. I havent been to Big Lots for months and they never seem to have cool stuff like that when I go. I love primroses too. Around here, after they die back, I tuck them into the ground in the spring in a nice shady spot and I have had good luck with them blooming again through the summer and then early next spring.

Your green patterned dishes (is it transferware?–I not up on the different names of dishes:) – My dear MIL had dishes like this- and I miss her so much. She passed away in 1986 at the age of 58 from cancer. Anyway, the dishes remind me of wonderful times together at her house with family:)

Love your "playing with dishes":) sounds like so much fun! And your flowers are beautiful- appreciate seeing green from way up north where we are!!
Have a great rest of the week!

You just answered a question with your picture that I was mulling over today. I wondered if the primrose plants would do well in the house. I've tried them outside in the yard this time of year but it's too wet in Oregon and they looked awful very quickly.

    I love those flowers.

Manuela, thanks for stopping to visit my blog. I love your primroses and of course all those beautiful dishes! I think I need to make a trip to Big Lots for some mercury glass! Last year I looked for primroses but couldn't find them anywhere down here. I always had them in Oregon. Cool that you also have lived in the Pacific NW. Do you miss living in Seattle? I miss seeing the mountains, but I don't miss the rain. Also loved the flowers and fruit and of course miss all that. Blessings, Marla

oh that sounds like fun…i won't be doing any decorating for a bit…as in three weeks we are off to italy and by the time we return it will be march….my mind is on getting things together and making a million lists in between working and doing my regular stuff.
i will check out big lots tomorrow here and see if i can find any mercury glass. i think i mentioned before i can never find any. target had a few pieces at christmas and i bought a really neat bowl which i have silver balls displayed in and bought a couple of little votives that are too small for anything but a little itty bitty candle. but, i will keep my eyes open and maybe stumble upon some one of these days :0

have a wonderful weekend. and as always i so enjoy seeing what you are up to and am so envious of your decorating point of view!

    Much love, Manuela!

Looks like you are having a lovely time. A few years ago, I came home from our summer vacation to find that my husband made a big cupboard for our kitchen, with glass fronts. We needed it for storage, but he used a dark stain on it and took me quite a while to get used to seeing it there. Now, I know it definitely needs a makeover — I'm thinking an off white, contact paper for the back and nice lace edging. Thanks for inspiring! Blessings, Tammy
