DIY Repurposed Ruler & Yardstick Projects

By Manuela Williams

I recently found a bag of school rulers at Goodwill and snatched them up because I remembered pinning a cute wreath made out of them and thought I’d give that a try. I found a few more fun projects to make with rulers and yardsticks that I thought I’d share with you.

Back to school sales will start soon so if you don’t have a bunch of rulers already, you can get some then.

Repurposed Ruler Projects

This is the wreath I pinned. The kids around here go back to school next month. This would be so cute as a teacher gift or in a back to school vignette or for your schoolroom if you homeschool. Be sure to check out the great tutorial for this ruler wreath by Polka Dot Chair.

Oh my gosh… so many cute ideas. As I kept scrolling down, I would say “THAT” is the best idea! Then, I would see the next idea and say “No… THAT one is even better”. Got to the end of your post with a big ol’ grin on my face, pleased with each and every one!! Now… which one would I pick to try first? Tough decision.. but what a delightful decision to make!! Thanks for sharing!

All such cute projects. I love the idea of dresser handles. I have an old dresser and they must not make handles the width the holes are anymore. I have repainted the dresser but can never find handles to fit. I may just try it:)

I just never cease to be amazed at the creativity I find through blogging. I would never think of these uses for old rulers but they are all just adorable!

Absolutely fantastic ideas for rulers/yardsticks. Too bad stores chg. for yard sticks now. I am coming back in a.m. later to print all these ideas out so we can make things.
I found an idea today that used yardsticks as frames for chalk boards. It was a deal on Decor steals for a set of chalkboards using yardsticks, they hang and are 12″ wide x 7 1/2″ high. The yard stick is just glued on the chalk board. Sorry Decor steals, I can’t buy them but I can sure make them. I’ll use rulers since I only have one yardstick. Whoohooo0. Such inspiration and fun to make all these awesome projects. So many ideas, not enuf time. Happy summer

LOL! I get their emails and so far haven’t been tempted to buy one thing. As a matter of fact a few things they’ve offered this summer I already had bought from TJMaxx!

Love the ruler frame idea and I think that should be pretty easy to put together.

I was inspired by all of them, but I am crazy about the tape measure bow! I make my own bows so that is just up my alley. I am definitely going to remember that!

On another note: On a previous post, I pinned your dining room light because I love it, and (I think) it’s what I’m looking for in my dining room. Is it vintage? It’s beautiful!

I never thought rulers can be this nice. Great ideas! I love how you form that tape measure into a bow. And the one in the mirror. Thank you for sharing.
