A couple of people have asked me what my screened porch looks like this year. So I took some photos of the “living room” section since I had most of it spruced up for the Memorial Day weekend. I tried to keep my screened porch decorating simple this year!
A screened porch is pretty much a necessity in the South if you want sit outside without getting eaten alive by bugs! Plus it’s nice to be able to sit outside in the rain (as long as the wind isn’t blowing it inside)! We had this one built and it’s my favorite room in my home!

I painted over an old painting that I’ve had outside for a few years and made this little RELAX painting the same way I did this diy quote wall art. The banner is made from a vinyl tablecloth from the dollar store.
The birdhouse I got years ago at the thrift store and I painted it green this year. Usually it’s full of shells but this year I put a plant in it (the top comes off).
Here are a few more screened porch photos:
This year I’m using ferns and geraniums on the porch. I’ve found these two plants to require the least amount of maintenance from me and they look great all through the summer and into fall.
I picked a few blooms from my garden and used some Ball jars I got at Target as vases (Target has the case of re-issued blue Ball jars that everybody’s been buying online).
Something we did last year that we love…last Christmas we wrapped the beams of the ceiling in lights and loved it so much we’ve kept them up there. They’re on a dusk to dawn timer so they come on automatically. It’s just magical to look out at night and see the lights on!
Well that’s part of the screened porch. I’ll show you the other part – the dining area – next week. I want to re-paint and hang one of my old shutters before I do and I probably won’t get around to doing that until this weekend.
Thanks for stopping by!

I love seeing the whole porch! I didn’t realize you had those gorgeous beams out there. What I would give for one of those!! You have it decorated just beautifully.

What a pretty place to relax and enjoy fresh air, either alone or with good company. Really like the birdcage.
You are so right about the bugs. Was on a lake this past weekend, and the mosquitoes were the worst I have ever seen.

Beautiful, calm summery palette and patterns, Manuela! Love the ferns and the geraniums for the same reasons. What a sweet and cozy porch!

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! We all dream of having a porch like that. I do for sure!

Your screened porch looks great, Manuela! It reminds me so much of our screened gazebo. While it wasn’t technically attached to the house, it was right off one end of our patio. I loved that gazebo and it was a nice part of the garden, too. I also did the white lights inside ours. It looks so nice at night. I find myself really missing different things about our house and lately it’s been the yard. I do not miss all the maintenance, though!

I love that porch! It would definitely be my favorite spot too.

Wow Manuela. It’s awesome. I so remember your other years posts on your screened porch and this was is just as beautiful. I love it. You’ve always been a hard worker in life and made your home a place where one would want to be. Thank you by the way for accepting the invite. I appreciate it. Take care.

Manuela, your sunporch is so pretty with it’s bright green and aqua accents to the white wicker. I love the lights wrapped around the beams too. It would be a great place to enjoy the almost outdoors without bugs. Have a good week. Pamela

Oh, golly, how I love your apple green and soft blues for summer! So cooling. I’ll be heading to Target to look for the canning jars which don’t historically exist on the West Coast–some for me, some for my sis. And I’m gonna get a string of solar lights for our patio too this year (something I’ve been wanting but too cheap to get before, lol). Welcome, summertime (six more days of school)!

Completely charming and I can certainly see why it’s a favorite room in your home. It was also interesting to see the evolution of the porch and the reasons why some things have changed. I love the ferns! Just lovely.

Your porch is fantastic! I love how it feels like you are in a treehouse. We are enjoying our new porch, too, but I still have a bit to do out there.

It’s so pretty that I had to pin it. I love the twinkly lights above. That’s the perfect touch to me.

Oh… I’m hoping to be blessed with my deck becoming a screened in porch some day. I like the lights in the rafters. I’m betting they don’t attract the bugs as bad as a regular light fixture, and yet gives just that nice soft yellow light. Really enJOYed your post.
Luisa says
Gorgeous porch! We really need to add smaller rails in between the big posts…much safer for kids!
Manuela says
Yes, we used to have a deck that had the wider spaced rails but when we built the screened porch we had to take them down because code had changed so much we couldn’t just insert more rails. The space between rails gets smaller and smaller!
Eileen says
Absolutely gorgeous! I simply love the colors.

We live in TX, and our screened in porch is where we spend most of our time. Ours is much smaller than yours. How wonderful to have this large space with the lush greenery all around. Have a great summer.

What a gorgeous porch! The colors paired with the white wicker looks so relaxing. After looking back on your previous summer porch posts, I realized that your wicker furniture still looks brand new after years of use. Would you please let me know where you purchased your set? Every spring when the patio furniture is displayed in the stores in my area, I am always drawn to the white wicker sets but am afraid to bit the bullet because I’ve read online about so many brands coming apart after just a year or two of use. I would put my set in our gazebo so it would not have direct sunlight on it all day, just in the afternoon as the sun is setting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Manuela says
Thank you!
Linda, it’s all weather wicker or I guess you could say wicker look – it’s made out of resin/plastic? material. It looks like wicker but doesn’t fall apart like real wicker! I got it from Home Depot years ago. I haven’t seen them carry it in a while. But I know it’s available online.
