7 Ways To Save Money On Children’s Toys

1. Try library rentals.
Many libraries offer children’s toy and electronics rentals for either free or a very low deposit. This is a great way to try new puzzles, games, electronics, learning games, and so much more. You use your library card to check out the toys just as you would books, and you return them when you are done. So easy and cheap!

2. Try Facebook sale groups.
There are so many sale groups on Facebook these days! Look for a local sale group that includes moms like you, looking for children’s toys and clothes. This is a great way to find gently used and even new toy items at a great price. Plus, you can even sell your own toys you no longer use and get cash for new ones!

3. Check out consignment shops.
Head to a children’s consignment shop such as Once Upon a Child where gently used toys are waiting for you at a fantastic price! It is worth swinging into these shops often and seeing what is available. You might even be able to sign a wish list so they call you when specific items come in!

4. Use discount codes when shopping online.
Don’t pay a dime for any online toy purchases before you check out www.retailmenot.com. This is a wonderful site for finding coupon codes good at thousands of online retailers. You can score codes for free shipping, a percentage off, and even BOGO offers.

5. Shop during the off season.
Toys during the holidays will always be more expensive. The two biggest holidays for toys seem to be Christmas and Easter. At these times it can be hard to find a good deal, but wait for the summer months when more people are playing outside and retailers are scrambling to get day to day indoor toys off the shelves.

6. Look for coupons, they do exist!
People seem to think that coupons for toys don’t exist, but they do! Check Sunday circulars for coupons on your favorite toys. Target tends to offer toy coupons on their website and also via their Cartwheel app’s offers. Meijer, Toys R Us, and other toy retailers have coupons as well, you just have to look and snip them when you see them.

7. Don’t forget to price match, get rain checks, and keep those receipts.
This is three tips all smashed into one, but all three are worth remembering. If a toy you want is on sale, get a rain check if it is out of stock. You can also try price matching at another store and see if they will honor the deal. Many will, and they will even add an additional discount on top of it. Last but not least, always save receipts in case there is any issue with a toy. You want to be able to get your cash back!

Give these 7 ways to save money on children’s toys a try and see how simple it can truly be to give them the toys they want for less!
