Decorating with Faux Deer Head

By Manuela Williams

We made a little exercise area in our garage recently and I moved the big full length mirror in my living room into that space and replaced it with a shorter wider one but it doesn’t look quite right (or maybe I’m just not used to it). Anyway, while in Target last week I noticed that they had a whole bunch of different resin deer heads for sale (part of their Threshold line)  and  thought  I’d try one above the new mirror.

They have deer heads with painted antlers (silver and gold) but I thought I’d try the plain white one and I can always paint the antlers myself (like maybe yellow or red).

I’m still not sure about that wall.  The cross wall is so busy that I don’t want to have a whole bunch of stuff on this wall too. But I’ve seen little deer/antelope mounts that might look cute next to the deer head – one one each side. I might put a frame around the deer head or maybe I’ll simplify the cross wall? Which is probably a good idea to do either way.

I don’t know how this wall will end up looking but it’s the only decorating thing I’ve done recently that I can share with you 🙂

We went house hunting Saturday in one of the areas we’re considering, I cleaned my refrigerator and I did work on my pantry (moved it)  which I hope I have time to photograph this week.

Basically I’m doing a lot of decluttering/re-organzing things right now. But soon I’ll decorate for Christmas. It’s just going to be a bit quite on the blog until after Thanksgiving!

It’s better than what I’m doing…switching small appliances all about. I should plan this out first instead of flying by the seat of my pants. Happy house hunting and house selling!

I’m so tired from painting (brought my potting bench inside and painted it) that I may not move for awhile. Every day I say I’ll have one room entirely done. Somehow it doesn’t happen.

I love the red toile curtain on your cupboard. Sweet! Good luck with your house hunting. I hope you find the perfect nest!

Thank you Pamela! That’s a tablecloth that I used as a curtain on the cupboard.

Interesting I didn’t know you could buy a faux deer head at Target?! Seriously, who knew?
I like it with the pom-pom garland.
I am trying to organize and declutter…not even really in the mood to decorate…so staying busy other ways. :/
I’d be interested in seeing your pantry reorganized and moved to a new location. Still haven’t found a piece that will work for me.

Don’t laugh, but I have a deer head that sings cowboy songs and tells jokes. So I guess I can say my deer head can kick your deer heads butt. 😉

It sounds like we are on the same wave length and doing similar things around the home. Sometimes I actually DON’T do something because I think ‘this won’t be a good blog post’ lol. I trust I’m not alone in that regard. At least I hope I’m not!

LOL! OK I would totally get a kick out of that!

YES!! I so understand that. When you blog (especially if it’s your job) you always think is this worth blogging about, are these photo good enough to pin. It drives me crazy! I did do a lot of organization stuff in my kitchen but since it basically involved using Dollar Tree bins and such and isn’t pretty (but it’s organized) I know from experience it wouldn’t even be worth my time to take the photos, edit them, write a post etc. Plus, like you said, there are things I want to do but I know it wouldn’t make a good blog post and I barely have time to come up with posts as it is and keep my household running and my family happy 🙂

I like you faux deer head & I really like the pom pom fringe. I got tickled that I clicked on your post as my daughter and I were discussing where I could come up with a set of deer spikes for a table setting! Sounds like you are quite a busy woman these days! How is it we keep our homes clean and constantly work to keep them nice, only to discover clutter when we turn around? I guess it is the age old question of house wives everywhere.

    Have a great week,
    Jen

🙂 Well, I guess after living here for over 10 years – things just accumulate. Even though I go through stuff several times a year and purge!
