Hi everyone! I had to sell my dining room table from my other house ( it was too big for this small breakfast room). So we have been eating on TV trays since we moved! Not very comfortable – especially for my 6’2″ husband. But we finally got a round white pedestal dining room table at Ikea.

So this is the confusing part – it’s either the Liatorp or the Ingatorp table. My Ikea is kinda of a mess (don’t get me started on the disgusting breakfasts they have). The display said it was Ingatorp (in black or white) $349. But when we went to pick it up, the aisle and bin number info said Liatorp and it was $249. Which you can’t find on their website anymore. So I don’t know if they’re discontinuing the Liatorp and renaming it Ingatorp or what? Maybe your Ikea is better organized than mine (Atlanta). That’s Corey by the way.
Anyway, it’s round but it self stores leaves so you can make it into a bigger oval dining table. Which is what we’ll need for Thanksgiving (I’ll just place it on a diagonal).
I’ve got to find some round tablecloths. All mine are oval!
I also got a curtain rod put up with my “curtains”. They are actually tablecloths and used to hang in the living room of my other house. They are hung by clips that you can find at Target, Home Depot, etc. I’m not sure I’m going to keep them here but I thought they’d be cute for Christmas at least.
I’m also not sure if I’m going to keep the sidelights as is or put blinds on them or do some other bay window type curtain treatment. The back part of the yard is woodsy and it kind of freaks me out to look out at night 🙂 !
I have lots of Camellias of all varieties on both sides of the house so I snipped a few to enjoy inside. The leaves are so dark green and glossy. I find them pretty even if they don’t have flowers.
So we decided to use the formal dining room (below) as our TV room/husband’s office and use the smaller breakfast room as the dining room. It may change down the road but that’s what works for us right now.
We’ll be moving this dining room chandelier into the breakfast room and the breakfast room light/ceiling fan into the TV Room. Then we’ll just switch them back when we move (this is a rental).
Those french doors lead into the kitchen and the tile goes from the foyer into this room into the kitchen. The tile is ice cold in the morning! I’m going to have to find some sort of round rug to put under the table! Otherwise, I love this room! It’s so bright and sunny and has a great view of the backyard.
As you can see, I don’t have anything on the walls (we’re slow unpackers) but I’m happy to be able to sit at a real table finally!

Did you make those darlin’ chair covers? Angela
Manuela Williams says
Angela, No, I got those at Pier 1 on clearance about year or two ago so they don’t have them anymore 🙁
Betty says
The table looks so pretty and I love the fabric on the chairs.
Doreen@househoneys says
I absolutely love it! It’s perfect! So bright and cheerful, and the chair covers are such a nice touch and really tie everything together. I’m sure you’re thrilled to have such a nice space to dine in now!
Manuela Williams says
Thanks Doreen! I’m just happy to have one place where people can sit down and not be in fear of boxes falling on them! 🙂 I’m going to unpack books today so I should be able to work on the living room this coming week. I still have one wall to finish painting.

It’s beautiful! And that floral arrangement! And your sweet puppy! Love this!

Love the colorful red and white look with touches of black! And the chandy in there will be awesome for dining. I’m glad you’ve reached the point where you’re finally able to make it your own!
Kathy @ Creative Home Expressions says
I love your new table, Manuela! It looks like a great size and I love that it self stores leaves. It looks so pretty in this room with the red and white, too.
I know what you mean about the night “view” through the windows freaking you out. I always covered my windows at our old house (well, even here at the condo) with some kind of shades or blinds even the back yard facing ones for that reason. I also figured, in my paranoid mind, that just because it was our back yard that didn’t mean someone couldn’t be back there looking in! Maybe you could do something with tension rods and tablecloths to keep it budget friendly.
Manuela Williams says
Oh good! At least I know I’m not the only one. It doesn’t bother my husband at all! I’ll have to think of something.
Penny @ The Comforts of Home says
What a beautiful sunny room! I love the red in there!
Brenda Nuland says
I LOVE that table and I’m not a fan of decorating with white. My daughter, the one with the degree in Interior Design, she loves white. I’ve already told her I bet she paints the antiques white when she inherits her pieces. 😉
But that red and white is something I could live with every day.
I have a small dining room that is part of my living room (you have seen it on my blog since it is where the china cabinet and buffet also reside). I have to put it at an angle when we put the leaves in the table, too. But it works for the few times a year we need it that way.
Manuela Williams says
I really like white furniture and then I like to add color with other things. I like the Swedish and French Country looks that use lots of white and red (and wood). I am liking wood more and more (not a fan of cherry or dark woods at the momemnt – but who knows). I might start adding in more of those wood pieces as I need them or find them.
Bonita says
What a cheerful room! It makes me happy just looking at it! The doggie is cute too.
Manuela Williams says
Thank you! He’s such cutie – he needs lots of kisses and hugs during the day 🙂
Tammy says
It looks so cheery and pretty! You’ve done a lot to warm it up.
I am not a fan of lots of windows and French doors and such…yes, it looks lovely, but I find I can’t handle the glare during the day, and the Black Holes they turn into at night! Plus the heat in the summer time! (The cold doesn’t bother me as much)
You have really softened everything up and made it much more cozy and inviting. You have such a gift for making rooms welcoming and cheerful!
Manuela Williams says
Thanks Tammy! Yes, we’ll see what happens in the summer in this room. We just moved in so we missed the 100 degree summer heat. But we may put one of those tenty gazebo things over the patio in the summer which would then block out the direct sun to the patio door. At night it is just a big black hole! The back of the yard is all woodsy and sounds like we’re deep in the country (which we’re not). So I have not enjoyed the view at night, but during the day I love it!
Debbie says
Your new room looks very pretty and bright..a lovely room for a cup of tea. Thank you for sharing.
Kathleen Grace says
Oh but I LOVE the cheery red and white in that sunny room! It’s just beautiful :>)

Thank you Kathy!
Melanie says
The white table is perfect in that spot! Love the red and white theme going on, too. Very cheery.
Glenda says
What ever they cal it, $249 sounds like the better price. LOL
A pretty room with a pretty view, but I am like you – got to have window covers at night. The flowers are so pretty – thanks for sharing.
Enjoy your weekend – I know you will be busy unpacking and decorating.
Michele says
Hi, Manuela, great score on the table. Your breakfast nook looks cute already. We are in a rental, too, with the identical kind of cold tile floors. I found a nice round rug at a decent price at Ross of all places, so you might try looking there. Good luck!
Bettsi says
Hi Manuela, What a darling room! I love it!
Manuela Williams says
Thanks Bettsi! It is a cute little room – very bright and cheerful!
Deanna says
Manuela! I love it the table and those slip covers are great! So pretty with the red and white check curtains. Perfect for Christmas!
I’m taking some time to read through your posts that I’ve missed. A busy streak has kept me from keeping up with my blog reading.
Have a great day!

Absolutely charming! Love the fabric on those chairs. Such a sunny and happy place to sit and have a meal.

I am absolutely in love with that room already! The red and white and is so cheerful and I love the view. Seriously, I’m pinning. 🙂
Cathy says
We just moved ourselves so I can understand about all the changes and unpacking. I love the red and white and your new table is perfect. Thank you for sharing at Share It One More Time. Cathy
Manuela Williams says
Hi Cathy, Yes the running joke here is if someone asks where something is the answer is “in a box”! Thanks – we’re very happy to be able to sit at a table for our meals 🙂
TerriC says
I so understand about not wanting the windows uncovered at night! Here anyone looking in my windows would be about desperate to peer and for the most part the most adventuresome thing is either a cow or a deer, but I don’t want to look up and see eyes of any sort…and we wont’ even discuss the scare I gave myself once just seeing my own reflection, lol!
Linda @ Itsy Bits And Pieces says
Your dining area is so pretty, Manuela! We use a small round table that expands with leaves, too. Love the chair covers and Corey is a cutie patootie!
Manuela Williams says
Thank you Linda! Corey is a cutie AND a handful! It’s like having perpetual 2 year old 🙂
Kim says
What a stunning space…the red is just so bold and beautiful! I love it. Can’t wait to see what you do with the rest!!
Manuela Williams says
Thank Kim! Red is my favorite color!
Shelia says
Manuela, this is a beautiful space! Sorry about the confusion with your table. It’s really nice and I love love your pretty chair covers. The curtains (tablecloths) look very nice here. I looked and looked for some tablecloths like yours for curtains and ended up buying some from Country Curtains. Moving in is hard, isn’t it?
Be a sweetie,
Shelia 😉
Manuela Williams says
Yep the whole process of moving is hard and I tried to be very organized about it 🙂 Oh you know I found black and white buffalo check tablecloths at TJMaxx that I used in my old dining room and I found 1 red and white one there and never found another (even though I went to TJX in several different towns). I finally ordered these tablecloths on ebay – very cheap! I’m sure the Country Curtain ones are much nicer than these. I have some toile curtains from them.
Ronda Chesser Porter says
I love everything about your dining space from the table to the sweet dog. I want those red chair covers. Did you make them or buy them? Coming to you from TBT.
Manuela Williams says
Hi Ronda, I got them on clearance from Pier 1. Unfortunately they don’t carry that pattern anymore since it was over a year ago. Maybe try ebay? They do have some new cute slipcover designs for dining chairs. Thanks so much for dropping by!
Debby Messner says
Oh that table is perfect. Love all the red. You have such beautiful taste.
Still no contract. We had some interest last week. Hoping the snow hasnt scared them off.
Bess says
Your breakfast room is lovely, Manuela! So cheery and attractive. I’ve never understood the trend toward no window coverings. Just because one can’t see out into the dark, doesn’t mean others can’t see in! I’ve got to have my privacy. I am eager to see more of your new place! Corey is adorable! Blessings, Bess
