My slipcover is coming along! I used the zipper foot on my machine for the first time ever and made piping for the first time ever. I’m proud of myself for sticking with this project. I shared the beautiful cottage gardenof my neighbors.
I made some cute new curtainsfor my kitchen.

I made a refreshing old-time summer time drinkcalled Haymakers Punch. I was so pleasantly surprised that so many of you make it too! My husband absolutely loves it and I have to keep a pitcher of it in the fridge now!
My husband up-cycled some old windows and made me a garden conservatory.
There was a new addition to my lithographed Chippendale tray collectionand my polished silver that I had to show off.
I shared the beautiful crape/crepe myrtle treeswe have growing on our property.
I showed you how I organize my under the kitchen sink areaand shared a few non-toxic cleaning recipes.
We also built a pergola onto our “barn”.

I feel like I was just reading your recap for June, Manuela! July just flew by, didn’t it? You got a lot done {again}. I’m surrounded by attic and basement storage since the weekend and have been trying to sort through things {trash, donate or garage sale}. It looks like I’m having a garage sale at this rate! Hopefully, I’ll find some time to do some “pretty things” soon!
I really like those curtains and the pergola. You got a lot done, even with the heat.

What a productive July! I’m afraid I haven’t been nearly that productive — but in my own defense I’ve had the sinus infection and residual cough that has lasted most of the month, and it’s been so so hot — wait a minute — it’s just as hot where you are!
Your posts and your pictures are always an inspiration and an encouragement to reach for one’s “best” self. I really appreciate being allowed to peak at your projects and efforts.

When we were reading the first few chapters of The Long Winter – Ma makes this for Pa and Laura when they have been making hay! They considered it a real treat – that and ginger tea for Laura and Carrie when they were caught in a blizzard.

What a productive month, Manuela! You make me ashamed of how lazy I was in July. I’m blaming the slight difference in latitude. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it!

You manage to always accomplish big projects over there. I must have missed the Haymaker’s Punch. Sounds like something interesting to try. You amaze me, Manuela! I hardly got a thing done in July. . . I’m afraid I’m not very energetic in the terrible heat! But seeing all that you were able to do inspires me to get busy. 🙂
Your pergola is amazing. What a fun addition. I can imagine the grape vines wisping down and shading a darling seating area. Playing under the concord grape vines is a favorite childhood memory.
I am going to try the Haymaker’s Punch. I’m not a huge ginger fan, but my husband will love this. We are also huge fans of the Little House Books. I’m always intrigued when reading about the things that they ate. Such vivid imagery she creates. Remember the vanity cakes. Not long ago my son was complaining a little about eating beans. I told him to remember in The Long Winter that they ate the bean broth as soup for lunch and had baked beans for supper. ; ) FWIW, The Long Winter is my favorite book too. When the kiddos were little I would read it to them every Dec. or Jan.
Chloe and I were looking at your blog today for the Crock pot baking instructions. We want something baked, but just can’t handle the heat of the oven. We have a veggie lasagna in the slow cooker right now, but later today or tomorrow we are going to try some apple bread.
You have had a productive month! I feel like a slacker. =) I still just love the conservatory project. It is the one that inspired me the most!
