The new year is a wonderful time to try to get your life in order. Let forgetfulness and unnecessary stress be a part of last year, and go into the new year organized and ready for whatever life throws at you! All you need to do is make a few changes. 10 Tips to Help You Organize Your Life for the New Year

1. Get a Planner

An excellent way to organize your life is to get a planner! There are many different kinds to choose from, ranging from daily to weekly to monthly. Whichever one you choose, use it to record appointments and daily to-dos.

2. Use Your Smartphone’s Reminder App

If you have a smartphone, take advantage of it! Likely your phone came already loaded with a calendar or reminder app. If your phone doesn’t have that kind of app, you can easily find many free ones to choose from in your app store.

3. Make a Menu Plan

If not knowing what’s for dinner tends to cause you stress, organize your life in the new year and make a menu plan! A Cultivated Nest has a lovely free printable weekly menu planner that you can use!

4. Create a Budget

Something everyone should have is a budget! It’s such an easy way to organize large aspects of your life! If you don’t have one, we have a free printable of a simple budget worksheet that’s very easy to use!

5. Scan and Organize Documents Online

If you have a lot of documents lying around, you may want to consider storing and organizing them in the cloud. Using a service like Dropbox or OneDrive, you can easily collect a variety of documents, from receipts and medical records to report cards and treasured handmade cards.

6. Create a Paper Document Filing System

If you’d prefer to keep your personal papers out of the cloud, that’s fine. You can still organize your papers and your life by creating a paper document filing system. Consider using color coding or labeled tabs to help separate the different kinds of documents.

7. Get an In/Out Paperwork Organization Station

I don’t know about you, but my desk easily gets cluttered with various mail and papers that need my attention. Which is why I got a simple two-tier in/out paperwork organization station. It’s such a simple way to organize your life!

8. Set up Automatic Bill Pay

Having your bills automatically get paid can really help reduce stress and organize your life. If you tend to forget due dates, you should really consider setting up automatic bill pay in the new year!

9. Get a Password Book

There’s nothing worse than forgetting the password to an important website and having forgotten where the sticky note with the password is. Organize your life (and your passwords) with a little password book!

10. Get a Family Message Board

For those with a busy family, keeping everyone informed on what’s going on can be challenging. So organize your life and get a family message board! You can easily find a variety of types that would work well for any family, including chalkboard message boards, dry erase message boards, and cork message boards.
