12 Amazing DIY Dollar Store Holiday Decorations
Holiday decorating doesn’t have to be stressful or cost a lot of money! Check out my tips to make Christmas decorating fun and frugal!
- Reuse- Use empty containers from your kitchen as the base for some of your projects. Things like glass jars and tin cans can be a great foundation for projects and they don’t cost you a thing!
- Redo last year’s decorations- No reason to buy new decorations every year, just give them a makeover to match your style and save money! Spray paint, embellishments, and hot glue can change the looks of just about anything!
- Include your family- My kids love to craft, which makes for some good quality time together! It is a win-win! The decorations may not look like they are from a magazine, but the special memories connected with them make them even better!

I haven’t done much yet in decorating for Christmas. I hung a wreath on an inside door that my daughter made for me as a Thanksgiving hostess gift (feeling blessed). 🙂 This morning I put up some outdoor decorations: hung wreaths on the house and garage doors; decorated the window boxes with garlands and bird houses; turned one of my tomato cages upside down on top of a wreath, placed it in a wash tub that I used to grow some grape tomatoes in this summer, wrapped it in two long garlands, added some pine cones, berry clusters, and a topper…I situated this next to the entryway. I’ll begin putting away Thanksgiving items Friday and begin putting up my Christmas decor. I love the great ideas you’ve shared…my favorite is the wine glasses turned upside down….I plan to do that one on my dining room table.

No, I hope to get it done this week. We’re hosting our family party next weekend. The kids are calling it Thankhanukahmas. It will be gift exchange, feast, family gathering, all in one.
I like this snowflake idea a lot. I can never shut my storm door with the wreath on the main door and if I hang the wreath outdoors it’s likely to blow away. The snowflakes would be ideal…Now to see if I can find any of them!

I thought it was a cute idea! I was thinking of doing it and using that clay tac stuff (can’t remember what it’s called but I got it at Home Depot) to adhere the stars to my door. I use it in my pantry and I know it doesn’t pull the paint off the door. I know Dollar Tree and Michael’s have packages of snowflakes, don’t know if they are close to you.
