How To Organize Your Clothing.
Getting ready in the morning is so much easier when your closets and dressers are neat and tidy. Having a lovely wardrobe is nice but what good does it do us when we can’t figure out where we’ve put our clothes and accessories! Learning how to organize your clothes takes a little time upfront but can save so much time and money in the long run that you must get it done! Check out these tried and true methods to keeping your clothes organized.
Tips For An Organized Closet
1. Get rid of clothing
This may take a little time but take everything out of your closet to begin with and pile it onto your bed. Once your closet is completed you can take everything out of your dressers. Individually go through each and every article that you own and get rid of anything that you no longer wear or that you don’t feel good when wearing. If you haven’t worn it in a year then it’s time to put it in the donate pile. Ask yourself a few questions when going through your clothing to help you clean them out. Does this item still fit? Is there anything wrong with this item? Do I still LOVE it? If you answer no to any of the question then donate or sell it.

2. Hang everything that needs to be hung up using the backwards hanger trick.
This means you hang the hanger from the back of the closet on the pole (opposite of the way you normally do). When you wear an outfit or shirt you can hang the hanger the normal way. That way when you clean your closet out during spring cleaning time you will automatically know what you haven’t worn in a year and can properly get rid of it.
3. Organize your clothes by category.
All the dress shirts together, all the the casual shirts together. Or all the work clothes separated from the casual clothes. You can even organize by color if you like! This way you can really see what you have and what you may need to buy.
4. Fold and organize things that shouldn’t be hung up like sweaters or silky shirts.
These will often fall off of the hanger or worse yet end up with hanger marks on the shoulders making them un-wearable. You can keep these items in clearly labeled bins in your closet or under your bed if you’re short on storage. Having a set of under the bed organizer that is on wheels works great and makes it easier to slide them in and out.
5. Make sure your drawers are not over-flowing with clothes and can be open and shut without any trouble.
I find that folding t-shirts in a square shape and stacking them from front to back in a sideways manner (like file folders) allows you to see each item without digging through them. This works well and will actually free up some much needed drawer space.
6. Use organizers to help you organize your undergarments and socks.
There are plenty of drawer separators on the market that can help you keep them neat and tidy. If your budget is a little restricted you can always use toilet paper rolls or cereal boxes covered in contact paper and make your own organizer.
7. I consider bags, hats and scarves as part of my clothing in my home.
Finding an organizational system for them is very easy to do. Bins and baskets that are clearly marked or see through work very well or you can store them in a clear shoe organizer on the back of your door. Hats and purses can make a colorful wall display and will keep them up and out of your way.
I hope that these simple tips will help you better organize your clothes!
