Did A Little Barn Decorating!

Last year I painted my barn red (and I’m so glad I did since I just love it). You can see the before and after here. This year we added a little bit of seating and a few decorations.  Have a look!

decorating a red barn

Summer is over in the South (if you believe the stores)! You can hardly find any summer anything! It’s all back to school and fall. What’s left of summer is on clearance. At least that’s a good thing!

windowbox on red barn

I already had the window box on the barn.  I picked up some tin decor on clearance at Hobby Lobby that I put next to it. My Hobby Lobby has Christmas all set up! Isn’t that so crazy!

red barn

Home Depot did have some cushions left on clearance so that’s where I got these two.  We got the white foldable bench at Ikea in May. That area slopes so the bench is on the flat part which is why it’s at the end.

Corey

I had to put some wire fencing around the bottom of the barn because one day we couldn’t find him…

fencing at the bottom of the barn

…we heard him barking and looked all over for him…he had dug himself under the barn and couldn’t get out!  Can you imagine the drama of trying to get him out! He’s always trying to find a way back under there! Fortunate for him, he’s really cute and loves lots of snugglin’!

red barn with an attached arbor

We have a lovely view of the yard from under the arbor! There are lights on the arbor which are so pretty at night.

bird at a birdfeeder

We have a great view of these bird feeders from that bench and love watching all the different birds that come to feed. And the squirrels that try to climb the feeder and slip down (we coat it with vaseline). I really want to make a bird bath for this area. I love watching the birds splash around!

I did plant some jasmine behind that sunflower at the first post. But it’s going to take a while for it to grow up and cover the arbor.

red white & blue outdoor pillows

So that’s the barn decorating I’ve done so far on this side!  I’ll add some more plants when it gets cooler and other things as I find them!

Have a great weekend!

  1. Your yard and garden are so amazingly beautiful. I honestly don’t know how you do it all and blog! I love a red barn and the decorating you have done just makes your barn even cuter. All the fall merchandise is in the stores here too. Everything is orange, blech! I’m trying not to even look at fall yet, just trying to savor the last of summer:>) Thanks for sharing. It inspires me to think about what I can do to beautify around our barn!

  2. Your barn is so charming. Everything in the stores around me are Christmas already. What’s with that. Going to share your barn on my FB page today:)

      Thank you Dawn!

I know I hate them pushing the seasons like that. It’s hot as you know what here so I’m not in the mood to look at Christmas stuff. They do that with the clothes too. Who wants to look at coats when it 90? But if you don’t get your coat when they have them out, you won’t find much when it’s cold and you need one! It’s sooo crazy!

  3. Your gardens are looking lovely, Manuela! I love that fold up bench you got from Ikea. I think my daughter would love something like that for her yard. I had to laugh about your dog ~ at our old house our dog {a Husky} dug herself under the gazebo. Probably chasing rabbits. We couldn’t find her either and finally heard her bark and had to guide her out. I totally forgot about that until I read your dog did the same. Crazy dogs! : )

    • Manuela says:

Yep there are rabbits and chipmunks under that barn. A rabbit pop out last night while Savanna was taking Corey out for his before bedtime potty and he went sooo crazy! He barks like a seal – he’s a handful. I’m glad he’s her dog. :) He’s totally spoiled I must say. Even though he’s always getting into things he’s so cute and lovable you really can’t stay mad at him!

  4. Love the way your yard looks with that cheery red barn! You have great outdoor style, Manuela. Well actually, great style in every way!

      Hi Claudia!

Thank you so much, that’s very kind of you to say!

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for dropping by.

  5. Your yard and barn look like a picture from Better Homes & Gardens!

    • Manuela says:

Awww, thank you! I was quite traumatized when Colonial Pipeline came and chopped down all my trees along the back. I was so happy to see that the things I’d replanted have grown so well. Probably due to all the rain we’ve had this summer.

      Have a good weekend!

      • I’m so sorry they did that. It must have been heartbreaking. You did a great job making it look better :)

  6. Everything looks great and the barn just pops against the green of your yard.

  7. I love your red barn. I love your whole back yard! Everthing looks great.

  8. Your beautiful yard is the perfect setting for your red barn! I love the pergola, too. I’d never want to be inside the house if I had your yard!

  9. I always love tours of your yard and gardens. They are always so beautiful and full of color and life! Your red barn is just perfect for the area and your additions go ever so nicely!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  10. Your gardens astound me and now the barn ….love it! :)

  11. silly puppy and beautiful yard!
My favorite is the lone sunflower.

  12. Your barn is darling!! We had to do the same thing around the bottom of our storage building because the rabbits are under there and Bella wouldn’t stay out from underneath there. She got stuck one day also!

    Your flowers look beautiful!

  13. I love your barn. Red is my favorite color. I all the fun touches you put around your yard. Looks great!

  14. I love your red barn and ALL of those pretty decorations! Have a blessed weekend dear Manuela, HUGS!

I think it’s a beagle thing going under thing and not being able to get out. My Augie did the same thing under our very low deck. Beagles don’t cry quietly either. So in the dark of evening during a snow storm, with flashlights we were cleaning out the screw heads so we could take off enough deck boards to get him out. Next day we put up fencing like you did! Got to love them though! LOL

  16. Love that barn. You always have the best ideas and decorating. Your puppy story made me think of Pokey Little Puppy a Golden Book classic.
Enjoy the rest of the summer………even if it looks like Christmas at the retail stores.

  17. Absolutely love your little red barn, the decor, and all the flowers. So cheery and beautiful! What is the huge shrub by the fence with the bright pink flowers?

    • Manuela says:

      Thank you Melanie!

That’s a crepe myrtle. They come in several colors even deep red. I have one in the front yard that’s half white half purple!

  18. It’s all so very lovely Manuela :)

  19. Manuela, I just love the barn décor (and color!), so I HAD to pin it…but then I got caught up in all of your lovely boards and followed a ton of them! We have the same taste! :)

  20. LOL Poor Corey. Maddie did the same thing chasing Misu one day. Well Misu got out just fine…Maddie had to work at it a bit, lol. She never went under again.

Katie said her Hobby Lobby in Athens had put out Christmas over three weeks ago! She was not happy about that, lol. She likes to ease from summer to autumn to Christmas.

I have been dreaming of decorating my shed inside and out. I have ideas…lol

  21. Love your RED barn and pinned your sweet barn bench and pillows to my Americana board! I LOVE IKEA:) I posted DIY Doily Jacket to this weeks parties:) Swing by

  22. Gosh I loved this post. I saw the red barn and had to see what it was all about.
