Valentine’s Day Decorations

It may seem a little early for Valentine’s day decorations, but I decided to decorate my fireplace mantle so that we can enjoy it for a few weeks.

Valentine's Day Decorations {ACultivatedNest.Com}

I basically re-used what I already had plus I made this cute felt and fabric Valentine banner from a kit that my friend Kathy (Kathy’s Cottage) sells in her Etsy store Hens In Daisies.

 Valentine heart banner

The kits come with everything you need to make this cute banner. I was fighting a cold when I made mine  and didn’t have the energy to make the yo-yo flowers.

Valentine Banner

This is what it looks like with the yo-yo flowers (it’s Kathy’s photo).  So cute, isn’t it! Anyway, you can also get the PDF pattern if you want to use your own materials instead of buying a kit. This is a great little project to do with the kids since you can glue everything together if you want instead of sewing it! She’s going to be adding different kits to her store (hopefully some pillow kits cause she makes THE CUTEST pillows ever). Go have a look!  Hens In Daisies Etsy Store

Valentine Printable

The polka dot candle is from IKEA and the free Valentine printable is from Jensfavoritecookies.

Jar of Hearts

I filled my largest apothecary jar with some fabric hearts and a smaller one with Christmas ornaments that have hearts on them.

decopauged cardboard letters

I showed you my truck with the decoupaged toile XO  in yesterday’s post about decorating with vintage toy trucks.

heart wreath

I reused some hearts I had from the Valentine tree I usually do  and a heart wreath  I made several years go to make a new wreath for this year.

you are loved card

I like to celebrate the different holidays and seasons by doing a little something but this will probably be the last year I decorate for Valentine’s Day. It was more important to me when my daughter was little or when we had more family in the area and would have special dinner with them.

Do you decorate for Valentine’s Day?

Love your apothecary filled with hearts, Manuela! The printable is great, too, and a great way to bring some holiday/seasonal decor in inexpensively. Your truck looks adorable with the X and O! Love how you covered those letters, too. I put out a few things that are Valentine related but you wouldn’t really notice them if you walked in my house. : )

I don’t really decorate anymore because our son is 17 and doesn’t care so much about that now. I still get a nice chocolate bar for both my guys though :)

    Very pretty displays! Love them!

Not to early as it is on a bit over 2 wks. away. I normally don’t do much if anything for Valentines’ day.
Got up to 72 today (wonderful), and I was out and about most of day, got caught on a lot of errands, but still did not cover everything. Temps suppose to be 73 tomorrow, but severe weather tomorrow night. :( Then back to Winter temps. :/
    Enjoy your evening.

I decorate our mantle with vintage valentine cards. Each year my husband forgo the typical dinner and box of chocolates and instead spend time together wandering local antique stores to find the perfect one and add it to our collection. Some are as little as $5 and some are 5 times that much but each year we look back on the dozens of cards and remember where we were at in our lives when we purchased each one. Just spending that time with him is waht I cherish:)

Very little…no energy for decorating so soon after Christmas. Just a touch here and there works for me. I just love the X & O in the truck. And I was hoping that the last graphic in the frog was a printable. See? I could get into it!

Your decorations are cute! I don’t do much for Valentine’s Day, but with great blogs and Pinterest I get this urge to do more holiday decorating:) One thing I like to do is come up with a homemade treat to give the kids, and now my grandson. Haven’t decided this year’s though.

You can never have too much love on display no matter what the calendar says! The little felt heart garland is just adorable. Excuse me while I go root among my extra yoyo stash to see what I can whip up. It won’t be as cute as the kit, but I’ll be glad to use up more yoyos!

So pretty Manuela and fitting for this fun day! I love the little red truck …. just adorable. I’ve neglected decorating for Valentines day the last couple of moves (I did have a reason last year since we had just moved) but now I’m inclined to check out what’s in my stored boxes and do something for the fam.

Hope your week is off to a great start!!

    I LOVE your decorations!

I don’t decorate for Valentine’s, anymore. I did quite a lot when I had a daughter at home but my son and husband were not big into Valentine’s Day. Other than perhaps purchasing a package of chocolates.

My mother didn’t decorate but she always bought me a heart shaped box of chocolates for Valentine’s Day. Any reason to show love was a great holiday for her.

My kitchen is the place where I do the most valentine decorating, and my kitchen is so torn up right now that I can’t do a thing.

If I COULD copy right now, I would be copying. I love the stuff in the jars in particular.

  24. 24

Your decorations are so sweet and pretty! Love the garland, the apothecary jars! What fun! My sweetheart is a “Car man” so he’d love that truck, or a vintage toy convertible car would work too! The red and white Valentine decorations look so good with the yellow background, but you always use lots of red in your house and I just love it! The little sign sticking in the frog is cute, a great message to put out, so it subliminally sinks in! Your home is always so warm and loving! XOXOX Linda

I love your decorations! This is the first year I have really done it up big, which is crazy because Valentine’s Day is also our anniversary. It’s a lot of fun, but I started the day after new year’s and I am so over it now! Next year I’ll take a clue from you and wait until closer to February. And the red truck is the cutest thing ever, you are a clever one :)

    Hi sweet Manuela,
Thank you for stopping by and for your good wishes for our little grandbaby. He’s a sweetie!
I’ve had to wait to begin my Valentine’s decorating. Your post is a delight and I love that you are thrifty minded. I, too…am always wanting to reuse things I have around home. My husband received a huge apothecary filled with Christmas candy from a client of his. I have been daydreaming about just what would look pretty inside it….and, your jar of hearts is such an inspiration! I love all the red, cheery gingham and romantic touches.
Your blog is ALWAYS such a delight….and, you are such a darling friend!
Blessings and thanks for sharing your creativity!
