Thrifty Finds

By Manuela Williams

peonies

I didn’t find a thing on clearance after Easter (I hardly found any candy we liked at Target either)! It’s not like I needed anymore Easter decorating stuff so it worked out. Fortunately, I did really well at my two favorite thriftstores last week!

I found that great rooster plate and tray (which I’m saving because I know there will be another Rooster Party~smile)! I found those great little tole trays for 55 cents each. 2 have one pattern and the other 4 have a different yet very similar design. A pretty brand new colander, some wooden letters and  Styrofoam disc were my other finds.

But my favorite find is this!
toileplate
The reason it’s my favorite is because I already had one that I bought off ebay about 6 years ago. Can you believe it! I couldn’t when I saw it sitting on a shelf at Goodwill! How crazy is that to find a match for something I bought years and years ago!
platecloseup
I love it because it’s like a scene from a piece of toile!

leftside
So now that I have two of them, I was able to place one on each side of my patio doors.

rightside
I’m happy with what I got last week! Thanks for stopping by today and be sure to go to Linda’s blog to see the other participants!

I love the toile tray! I don't think I have ever seen anything like that before and you have TWO! The trays really have your name "written" all over them…black & white, toile, and a gardener. 🙂

I love the tray!!!! I love all your toile stuff. Heck, I love toile! And the rooster stuff is fabulous too. I haven't gotten any new rooster stuff in a long time. Except for the Country Living rooster plates from Kmart that I had to buy because of you. I still haven't shown them off on my blog yet though. Thanks for sharing your thrifty finds. I'm surprised that we can still find fabulous stuff at thrift stores since it now seems to be all the rage to shop there.

Thrifty Finds

By Manuela Williams

I found some great things at the thrift store recently, including this red transferware soup tureen!
red transferware soup tureen

I don’t think I’ve mentioned how much my husband enjoys going to the thriftstore! He always finds good stuff too and one day I’ll do a post on all the great deals he finds! But as usual, these are things I’ve found in the past few weeks. All pictures will enlarge when you click on them.

Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links to Amazon and/or Etsy, which means that I may earn a small commission from some of the links in this post. Please see our Disclosure Page for more information.

I was looking through the linens at the thriftstore (not Goodwill) and this caught my eye. The pattern looked familiar so I pulled it out…..

It’s the coordinating fabric to one of my favorite plates! It’s actually a twin size sheet. I could use it as tablecloth but I think I’ll make some cute pillows and/or placemats from it for next summer.

These are some finds I’m particularly happy about. I’ve gotten brand new tupperware, old time fruit juicer, Ball Jars, books, The Firm exercise DVD’s and some other useful items as well. But, I thought most people would be interested in seeing these.

I love soup tureens! I have a bunch of white ones but only one red transferware one. So when I found this one at this great price I had to buy it! $5.65 was the price!

red transferware dishes in a cabinet

I think it fits right in with some of my other red and white china!

I love it!

I also love this great candlestick I got with the harlequin pattern and fleurs on it. I love checkerboard/harlequin patterns and use them throughout my home as well as fleur de lis. I’ll use it this fall/winter when I put my white candlesticks away and bring out the black ones.

black and white harlequin candle stick

I don’t know how many yards of white eyelet(shown in the main pic above) trim is on that spool but it looks pretty full. It originally had 18 yards at $3.19 a yard and I got the whole thing for $3.13. I’m making a pillow for my Blue Toile room and I think I’ll use some of that to trim it! I also really love this old hand mirror that I got!

It’s really heavy – I don’t know if that means anything. But it was pretty and I’d like to make the top of my dresser prettier so I thought this would fit in and it’s useful too!

Now, some of you may laugh, but this next find is one of my favorites! A whole bag of pre-threaded needles!! I think I hear some snickering! My husband and I were so thrilled to find this. We both have trouble threading a needle!! These are great for things that need a quick little repair. I’ll also keep one in my purse and he’ll put one in his suitcase.

Lastly, this cute basket! The inside is lined. I have no idea what it’s for, but we all thought it was the cutest thing! So I’ll either use it for storage or maybe fill it with some faux flowers and hang it somewhere. That would be pretty don’t you think?

vintage fishing basket

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week everyone!

But thats ok, because it means I can keep shopping until I do find one.

Thanks for sharing and please stop by and say hi.

Love your finds!! I wonder if the basket with the shoulder strap was to hold binoculars or a camera? Or maybe it is a purse? I am not sure of the size it is. Don't ya just love the guessing though of what our treasurues may have origionally been used for!! :)My husband goes junking too. Our shops do not seem to have as interesting or inexpensive finds as you get though. Yet we do find things off and on and the hunt is the fun of it! 🙂 Jody

You found some great things. I love the soup tureen the best. It was just waiting to come home with you and join all that beautiful red transferware. After seeing so many bloggers finding great stuff at their local Goodwills, I ventured into ours for the first time. There was nothing there I would have taken if they gave it to me for free. Ours is 99% clothes and 1% serious junk. So, I am just out of luck when it comes to the fabulous Goodwill finds like so many of you. Oh, the needles, great find. As bad as my eyesight is getting, I need those!

I am so jealous! I have been wanting a red soup tureen for such a long time and there are none to be had around these parts. What a gorgeous find; great price too! I'm living in the wrong part of the country, I think. Maybe the wrong country period! Just kidding! So happy for you and I love your cabinet full of red transferware! Scrumptious! Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day.
