Outdoor Buffet Makeover

By Manuela Williams

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I want to show you my outdoor buffet that I painted. I actually bought the paint for it last year but just got around to doing it this week.

You’ve seen it many times before usually with a lot of stuff on top of it. It’s a great place to display stuff as there’s a sky light right above it and the play of light on the surface is beautiful to see.

I’ve been wanting to paint it yellow ever since I moved it from my dining room to the screened porch.

I didn’t have any replacement knobs so I just spray painted the ones that were on there. If I find some cute knobs I’ll change them out.

I really love it this color with the blue plates. I used an exterior paint but that side is pretty protected from the weather so I don’t think it was really necessary. The plates haven’t even fallen off the wall with all these storms that had tornado warnings!

But wait that’s not all! I’m going to try putting a mosaic on the top! I’ve never done it before but it’s always been something I’ve wanted to do. I bought this mosaic off ebay over a year ago. I was going to do a birdbath and just never got around to it! I’m not sure if I’ll use this one or if I’ll try to find one with more blues in it. I have a ton of mosaic pieces. I started a project last year and got tired of it so I’ll try to use what I have. I’m going to work on it as I have time. So it’ll probably be done in about two weeks. But you know I’ll be sure to post it (even if it turns out horrid)!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week!

    Hi anuela-

The buffet is absolutely stunning I love the yellow with the blue and white plates.

Your mosaic idea is inspiring me to try it with chipped blue and white plates. Wouldn’t that look pretty with the yellow?

    Awesome project. Thanks,

    Laura

Oh how fun that will be. I’ve been wanting to do that too for a long time. I’ve got tons of old weathered dishes that I want to break up and use on an outdoor small table just right for a candle and two cups of coffee. It’s way out in back in a garden area. So when I finish this typing, I’m heading outdoors to go get the table, then I’m selecting the dishes I want to break with a hammer, of course I’ll use glasses and put them in a bag or something. At least this way I can say I did something productive even if I don’t go further than that today. :DD I love the blue knobs and I wouldn’t change them. They go perfect with that mustardy yellow. Have a great week.

Love the buffet! Mosaics are very easy and you will soon become addicted! Then you’ll want to cover everything in broken plates! lol
Just one tip…start going to thrift stores and picking up china…it’s a lot cheaper than buying off of ebay. I use to buy off of ebay and found that it’s much easier and cheaper to break my own! Happy creating!

    Hi Manuella.
What a great job. It certainly is yellow, and it looks wonderful with the plates and the mirror reflecting nature. You are really lucky you have an outdoor area to put it. I would love to have a porch with a covered roof. Maybe at the next house!!!
    HAGD! Karen

I love the yellow and the knobs! What a great makeover!

I must admit, I am a little green-eyed of your screened in porch. Seems like during the summer in Atl by the time it cools down enough to be outside the mosquitos will eat you alive!

I noticed on one of your older posts you were selling one of your chairs in your garage sale. Wasn’t sure if you had thought about a price for it or not. I may be in the market for it!

I’m on the lookout for some furniture for our porch – I bought some wicker through Craig’s List and now I want to find some way to store the toys that land on the porch in an attractive way – now that I’ve seen your bright buffet, I’m inspired to find something I can paint to brighten the porch! Thanks for sharing your great ideas!
