My Cheerful Yellow Spring Decorating

By Manuela Williams

Yellow is such a happy color! I decorate with yellow all year long (almost all of my walls are yellow) but I particularly love using yellow for spring decorating.

decorating with yellow for springHere are a few ways I’ve used yellow in my home.

I wasn’t sure what to do with my fireplace mantel (until I decorate for Easter) so I  kept it simple and popped some faux yellow tulips in a pitcher for the time being.

I love your Target chair! Did you also get your yellow-gold pitcher from Target? I think we have the same one. What’s funny is that now yellow has become very “popular” and it always was with us1

Thanks Brenda! I love it too (and it’s firm which makes it easy to get out of 🙂 ) I think I did get that pitcher at Target. I’ve always loved yellow. Every house I’ve ever owned had yellow walls. That’s funny that yellow has become suddenly “popular”. Just shows you that you should always surround yourself with what you love and eventually it’ll be “in style”.

Love your pops of yellow. It goes so well with the red.

You know of course that I absolutely love your color style.

I was getting batting for a quilt at the fabric store yesterday and the gift section had the most amazing yellow ceramic piece on sale. It would have looked perfect as a centerpiece on my dining room table and they had it filled with lavender. It was on sale, but for $40. I hated to resist, but I am looking for new bedding for the bedroom so I had to save my money.

Thank you Carol! You know I feel the same about your style too. That piece sounds so lovely but I understand about having to save money. I’m saving money to replace two old windows in our bedroom and then I’m going to repaint it.

Manuela – LOVE that yellow chair!! I love red and yellow together. You have to smile when you see those two colors. When we first moved into this house (45 years ago), I had yellow shag carpet put in and my couch was an Ethan Allen in yellow and white big plaid. I always loved that room. It was so bright and cheery!

Yellow is a favorite color of mine. First comes pink but not in decorating. I have a lot of yellow walls in my house. It’s just a happy color.

Very pretty, Manuela, and it looks so good with your red accents, too. I never thought I was a yellow lover until I realized I had about 4 or 5 rooms painted yellow in our old house. : )

Love your touches of yellow. After reading your post I looked around my abode, and really don’t see any yellow – except for some bananas on the counter. Hmmm! I may need to rethink that as I need some touches of cheer around here right now.
    Enjoy your evening.

Manuela, everything is so bright and cheerful. I love it. The yellow, red, and blue is wonderful. The globes and goodies you have on the shelves is fun.

    It is so cheery!

I have yellow walls too, so I’ve used other colors to accent but the yellow accents look great with your yellow walls! I’ll have to consider this!

I have always loved the yellow and red combination in your home. I LOVE the chair. Is it comfortable? I’m always afraid to buy furniture online in case it’s horrible to sit on.

Of course, I LOVE you colors!

I should add even more yellow to my kitchen. Perhaps it is time to exchange the green buffalo check valance for yellow? Hmmmm…

So happy!! Yellow is one of my favorite colors. In fact, after yellow was my “color of the year” in 2012, I just couldn’t let it go so I dubbed it my official Life Color. A room just can not look shabby and unloved when it has a pop of yellow in it. I love every single bit of yours. (And I really love the tulips on the mantel. That might be just the solution here, or something like that. I don’t have any mantel mojo right now, and all that is within me is screaming SIMPLE.

(And I love that mirror, too.)
