Found a Statue for My Garden Conservatory

By Manuela Williams

Meet “Chippy”. He’s going to live in the garden conservatory that my husband built for me.

I took a few quick shots because it was threatening to rain (didn’t have time to plant my mums that I bought to plant around him).

chippy's missing hand

Poor thing is  missing a hand. Although he might not mind since he does have wings.

I have a few ideas of things I want to do to dress up my conservatory. Like I want to do something fun with Chippy’s floor and we want to add some legs to make it higher. I think “something” might find underneath of the conservatory a cozy place and I don’t want any surprises!  I also want to find some trim for the roof part. My husband wants to light him (my husband is just a wee bit crazy with lights – Christmas lights, every tree needs an uplight, pathway lights, solar lights, you name it 🙂 ).

chippy's sweet face

Isn’t he sweet? I’m happy to have found “Chippy” and I think he’ll be happy in his glass house where he’ll be sort of protected from the elements and hopefully won’t get much chippier!

I love Chippy! And who cares if he is missing a hand? Venus De Milo was missing both arms and everyone loves her:>)

Love Chippy, Manuela! I’m actually bringing three of my outdoor statues with me – a bunny {gotta bring my bunny!}, a little girl I bought because she reminded me of my daughter, and a little boy that was actually part of a water fountain that I bought to represent my son in the garden.

    I love Chippy-
lights could be done very inconspicuously and tastefully. I’m sure if you two put your heads together you’ll come up with something nice to do.

I’d love something like that in my garden, they make for nice conversation pieces~ Pat

What a handsome guy he is! Love the conservatory your husband buit you. It will look great with the trim on the roof line. I like the sweet little fork/crystal chandelier inside too. Can’t wait to see your finished project. I am always wanting my hubby to add more lights… that is funny. I like the atmosphere they help to create.
    Have a great day!

That looks really good! I love your first picture — it looks so mysterious and rather decayed — almost a New Orleans kind of feel.

Hope you got a bit of rain. We had a steady very light rain yesterday that didn’t amount to much, no rain today — but very gusty winds and much cooler! I’ve had pot of stock cooking on the stove all day and all the windows open.

I think he’ll make a fine addition to the conservatory. And I have to side with your hubby-a few lights in there too would look fine!

I love your Chippy statue Manuela! And your conservatory too. Can’t wait to see it when you are done with all of your fun ideas. Kudos to your hubby for making it for you. You two make a good team. (:>)

He looks quite regal standing in his house. I had to laugh at you comment about your hubby and lights – doesn’t that describe all men ;0) I know my husband is the same way.

Your wonderful little Chippy is just darling! I would so love to have something like that in my garden. Yes, he does need to lit up somehow. Your plans sound very fun, though. I can’t wait to see what you do with him. I’m glad you put him in the conservatory, it’s the perfect place for Chippy, I think.

Hi Manuella, Chippy is a cutie for sure! Great little conservatory. Oh, you asked about my French cow print – no, it did not come from a GW book (I wish!). I bought the print on ebay. It was a consolation prize for me. Sadly, I bid and lost on 4 different sets of French cow prints….I think a decorator was bidding against me. She got kind of high – 4 prints for $50! So I bought this page as second choice, but they are adorable! Linda

Ohhhhh! I love Mr. Chippy! How perfect for your conservatory! Hope you all got some much needed rain as we did! Put a delay on some things we had planned, but it was worth it to see a yard full of luscious green grass today!

    Have a wonderful week!

Great! I need you to come do my yard. It is bare, except for a swing/slide set and toddler toys strewn (is that a word? In hillbilly land it is!) around all over the place. lol!
