Happy Weekend everyone! I love a pretty tea towel! They’re a easy way to pretty up a kitchen. I also think that cute tea towels are great gifts for many occasions or holidays (think Christmas). Making them yourself gives you a chance to personalize them plus, they are inexpensive when you make them yourself. Here are 4 easy to make Tea Towel Tutorials.

These are all tutorials where you use a ready made dish towel and embellish it in some way.
This cute tea towel is made by simply sewing ribbon on it. See the tutorial at Aesthetic Nest
Use stencils to embelish an ordinary dish towel like these from Number 2 Pencil. No sewing involved!
I love ruffles! Everything is cuter with ruffles. Find out how to make a ruffled towel at Craftaholics Anonymous
Now this tea towel doesn’t use all the usual graphic transfer methods. So you don’t need a printer with special toner or anything other than a marker! See the tutorial at Setting For Four. Anyone can do this one!
Be sure to check out the links for the full tutorials.

They’re pretty but I don’t do a lot of decorated tea towels as I feel functional must be a big part of everyday use items. I when I “make” a tea towel, I wind off miles of cotton thread, spend hours dressing my loom and then weave them. It takes the term making to a different level I guess and only if you actually enjoy the process. To some it can be zen like and enjoyable but to others, not so much. 🙂 I do like having large, thick, absorbent and colourful towels though, so sometimes it’s well worth the time and effort. Hmmmm, I haven’t made any recently so maybe an upcoming project.

I always imagined getting into a rhythm of weaving would be relaxing and almost meditative.
Actually, if you go to the sites and read the tutorials these are towels that are used. There’s no reason why functional can’t be pretty as well. I made some graphic transfer kitchen towels and I use them every day. Although there’s nothing wrong with hanging a towel in your kitchen that’s pretty to look at that you don’t use. Then it becomes like a piece of art.

I like them all, especially the last one. Theses pretty towels just jogged my memory that I embroidered some towels a while back and have never used them . I am going now to find them and hang them on my stove.
You have the best ideas!

What cute ideas. My only problem is every time I put out pretty towels, Steve grabs them to clean up red wine.
