The Dining Room Is Finished!

By Manuela Williams

top
Hi everyone! I have one project totally done and ready to show off. Yep, the dining room is finished! I took a lot of photos (warning – lots of pictures in this post) so here’s the tour.
chairrail
I decided on painting the white on the bottom because I originally had wanted to do beadboard wallpaper on the bottom in white. So I kind of had that image in my head and couldn’t get rid of it 🙂 I love how it turned out!
curtains
People always ask me if I made the curtains. The answer is yes and no! I took store bought toile panels and added the pom pom fringe and red gingham to the top. I’m by no stretch of imagination a “sewer”. But it was easy enough to do since it was just sewing in a straight line.
hutch
The tray with the lemons and black and white checkerboard was hanging in my kitchen. The other two are new.
lemontray
This is always everyone’s favorite tray.
roostertray
Mine too!
IntoLR
I still have my book page wreath up cause I love it!
trays
This white three tiered stand is from Goodwill. I bought it a few years ago and it’s one of my favorite purchases since it’s so versatile.
stand
For those of you who are new, this used to be a pine table and chairs.
tablechairs
I always wanted a white table but couldn’t afford a new one so one day I decided to paint it and I’m glad I did! Painted the chairs black and recently re-upholstered the seats in a yummy red toile.
porch
One of the things I love about this room is that we can open the door into the screened porch and get all that wonderful fresh air in the house without the bugs!  It was 74 today – amazing isn’t it!!
DR
Hope you enjoyed the tour! Next on my list is to finish the downstairs bathroom.
mums
Happy Weekend, Friends!

Your dining room looks beautiful. I love your collection of toile trays – very nice! It is great that you can open your doors to your screen porch and let the 'outdoors' in. Plus the fact that it was 74 there today is super! It was 8 celsius here today but sunny and very nice when bundled in a heavy jacket, a hat and gloves 😉

Way to go, Manuela! It looks so beautiful–fresh and fun, but sophisticated and lovely–lots of beauty and just a touch of whimsy. JUST RIGHT for a dining room, if you ask me! Congratulations on getting this room finished. I'm thinking that realtor's photos will never do your home justice–you might need to make a realty book yourself featuring your own photos!

Did you show us how to make it? Tell me where I can find it in your blog if you did. I need to make one for Christmas. I've been looking everywhere for something unique and inexpensive. That's on my list of things to try. No, I have never washed burlap. I didn't know you could! You don't have fibers all over the machine after? Do you zig zag the ends first? This is before you sew it, right? That would solve the smell! UI am full of questions! lol Thanks for telling me about that! I hope you are having a great weekend!…hugs…Debbie

Manuela, it is a beautiful transformation. You did a wonderful job. I have a question for you- did any of your trays have plastic tabs on the back from having been TV trays? I have one that I want to hang before thanksgiving and the spot that it is to go in leaves those plastic tabs visible. Being cheap metal, Im afraid trying to break them off will bend the metal or damage it. Can you share if you have dealt with this issue when trying to hang a tray? Thanks! Your home is always an inspiration~
