This is the last of my Christmas decorating that I have to share with you – our cozy spare bedroom.
Didn’t my husband do a nice job of tying this ribbon around the lampshade! I couldn’t for the life of me get it the way I wanted it to look and he did it in one try! I added the sparkly vintage brooch at the center of the bow. This has become one of my favorite Christmas decorations in this room!

I added a soft cozy throw to the bed.
This is was originally a wooden spool ornament. I took the hook part out and had my husband drill a little hole for the bottlebrush tree.
This is the same type ornament and I glued a tree to the top.
This free Christmas printable can be found at A Spoonful of Sugar. I did change the border around the words to yellow – it’ll print white for you unless you change it in Photoshop or Paint.
A pretty Christmas pillow next to the red toile one that’s always on the bed.
This is a small room and the other part has my desk and a bookcase – you don’t want to see that……believe me!
But this is the last hurrah for the guest room portion because after January we’re taking out the bed and most of the room will be my office/creative space.
I say most because my husband has to use the closet in this room for his clothes (old house). Now that my daughter is living downstairs her overnight guests stay downstairs with her (blow up mattress). The only relative that doesn’t live in the area likes to stay at the “W” in Atlanta (very posh hotel). So there really isn’t any reason to keep an extra bed in that room anymore ( & we do have two comfortable couches that can be pressed into service if need be).

People were surprised that I didn’t turn Christopher’s old room into a guest room but we have a similar situation. I don’t know of anyone who would stay here when they visit but if we did have a guest, we have a nice sofa bed.
Christopher will be taking the large bookshelf to their new place sometime in late January and that will provide space for “something”. We’ll see what shows up at Goodwill. 😉
It may take longer to get his things out of the closet, judging from the look on his face when I asked him if he was emptying it at the same time…
I’ve decided to set up my sewing machine in January and start on a couple projects then. If everything is easy to work with, I’ll do more creative projects.

Now that you mention a guest room, one of the perks of living in a condo is having a guest suite. We have hosted so many people in “our” suite over the past 16 months living here – and the best part is that, at the end of the day, they can go to their own room, just like at a hotel, and have their privacy and we have ours. That’s one thing I do love about condo living!
Stephanie @ La Dolce Vita says
It looks charming! I think it is a great idea to use the space the way you need it. And if you can, just store the bed just in case. And if not – comfy couches it is!
Manuela says
Actually we’re going to keep the mattress and seal them and store them for when we sell the house. That way we can stage it as a bedroom again.

Your husband ties a pretty bow and of course I love the touch of bling. I struggle with tying a pretty bow – can do fair with wired ribbon as I can reshape the loops. Enjoy your “new space” ! 😀
Enjoy your evening.

Your guest room looks so cozy and Christmasy, Manuela! I love all the red and white! Love your pillows, especially the new lumbar one’s pattern. Great job on the bow to the hubby! : ) Love the bling you added. The spool ornaments are a perfect DIY craft that I’ve been looking for to use my empty spools. They are plastic but I think with some decoration like this it won’t really matter.
Manuela says
I’ll tell my husband you said great job. He was pretty happy with himself 🙂
Nope shouldn’t matter at all that they are plastic, prettify them up! You can glue all kinds of things to top.

Yay! A final look at your guest room-soon-to-be-office! It’s adorable, but I can’t wait to see the fun you’re going to have in your new space!
Our Guest Suite doubles as my creative space, too. I just told Hubby the other day though, I wish I had a studio that I could muck up all day long if I wanted to. Oh, well. I just make “fun” work wherever I am… even on my lap in the front seat of a rental car!
Have a great Christmas! We’re off to Guam today. Yippee!

Merry Christmas, my dear friend!
As you know, I am in love with the cheerful color red, too! You have just blessed my socks off with your beautiful guest room! What a beeeeeautiful and peaceful setting. How I wish I lived next door to you and could stop by and take a closer look at all your amazing Christmas decorations. You have created a nest that is beyond words!
Thank you for visiting and for your generous comment!
Blessings,
Carolynn

Sweet little guest room… great bow! It’ll be a sweet little craft room or office space, too. I’m very glad that I took down the bed in my sewing room…it’s tiny and wee and I need all the space I can get.

I LOVE the Christmas pillow next to the red toile! Where did you get it? Such a cute room, so cozy and inviting.
Manuela says
Hi Meg,
Thank you!
That pillow is from TJMax. It was 12.99 or there abouts.

Seeing your bottlebrush trees has made me resolve to buy some for myself tomorrow! They’re just so sweet and charming.
I spent the whole entire summer charmifying our guest room…then my son moved back home! Someday I’ll get it back. It masquerades as my craft room when guests are absent–fortunately, my sweetie doesn’t mind me sewing in our master even if he won’t go for the mismatched kitchen chairs, lol!

It looks wonderful to me! I pinned two different things on here. I also give you big hurrahs for planning the office/creative space. I have rooms that would do for that here, but I have yet to bite the bullet and do a whole room. The little bathroom/craft space that I made is working quite nicely so far, though.
Wish I had a sewing room…
Jennifer @ Town and Country Living says
Cute room! Congrats though on getting your own space. I love the bottle brush tree attached to the wooden spool. Now I’m going to keep my eye out for wooden spools! 🙂

Those little Christmas trees are adorable! I have a guest room, but right now I have all the unwrapped presents in there. I can’t wait to get it ready for Christmas. I frame my old Christmas cards and place them around the house. Thanks for some creative ideas.
Brenda Kula-Pruitt says
So glad you’re getting your own space! That in itself is a Christmas present. The room looks fantastic. Kudos to your husband. I can’t tie a bow worth a darn!

Beautiful guest room, though you will love having your own room. That’s what we did with our spare room. I have my comfy chair, bookcase, desk, and TV in there.

That is a precious, and your hubby did a great job on the bow! How nice that you will be able to have your own space, I know you will have a lot of fun in there. Love those pillows!

Diane says
Wonderful!! And a husband that can tie bows? What a charmed life!
Sandy says
Manuela! Your photography is stunning! Love, love, love your guest bedroom. Of course, I’m kind of partial to red and not just for the holidays. The bow and broach on the lampshade are stunning! Your husband can be your official styling assistant (my husband comes up with great ideas) He did a fantastic job! Can’t wait to see what you’ll do with the room when it becomes your office/creative space.
Claudia says
I can’t imagine a more welcoming guest room! Beautiful touches everywhere and congratulations to your husband for that amazing bow! Can he come over to my house and tie some bows?
Yay for your new creative space, Manuela! I cannot wait to see what you do with it!
Thanks so much for joining in this week and Merry Christmas to you and yours!
