Indoor because it’s inside my screened porch. Outdoor because the porch is outside!
Hi everyone! I realized that I never showed you what I did with some of my herbs and veg.

All my lettuce bolted in my vegetable garden (even with the cute paper umbrella) because of the heat. I couldn’t even get any new lettuce seeds to germinate in my veggie garden due to excessive heat! So I planted seeds in a container. I left them outside until I got a few leaves and then I’d alternate bringing the container in during the heat of the day and putting it back out (when I remembered at night). So far it’s working quite well!
I’m going to start a pot of micro greens too since we like to mix them into our salads.
I potted some swiss chard seedlings. Also a basil plant and a bit of parsley.
Lemon verbena and rosemary are also some herbs I have growing here.
There’s a skylight over this table so all the plants get some direct sun during the day, but it doesn’t beat down on them like it would outside.
It’s continuing to be pretty hot (in the 90’s) so I think I’ll keep my little indoor/outdoor garden for a while longer! Besides, it gives me something to tend to since it’s too hot to go outside in the main garden.
I am going to take a little break from blogging/the computer. I’ll be back in a week or so. I’m not going to re-run any old posts while I’m gone. You can have a look in the archives if you haven’t already done so. You can search by category like gardening or seasonal decorating for example.
For those people that asked: My couch is from IKEA, the slipcover is from IKEA

Have a nice little break, Manuela! I know what you mean about the heat ~ we are 95 and humid today {through to Thursday at least} and we might get something from Earl then. I have weeding I know should be done, but unless it feels cooler this evening after work they will be safe from pulling for another day! : )

Have a restful and creative time off. I may have withdrawal. 🙂

Being in NC I understand about the intense heat. I have been keeping my patio umbrella up to try to give the potted plants on the patio a bit of a respite. Your indoor outdoor garden is a great idea.
Enjoy your break.

That was a great idea! My lettuce bolted in the heat to. It is starting to get a little cooler here, so I have planted a second crop of radishes, lettuce, spinich, green beans, peas and carrots. They are just starting to sprout now. I am making sure they are watered well every day.
Have a nice break!

What an ingenious solution to gardening in the heat/humidity. We're having the opposite problem here ~ cool temps and rain. It really feels like Fall (already)! Hope you enjoy a wonderful, relaXing computer break.

I just love that porch of yours, Manuela, and now I see that you're REALLY putting it to good use! I didn't know you had a skylight on the porch–that was a good design idea.
I hope you have a wonderful little break. Enjoy yourself, be refreshed, and we'll see you when you get back! 🙂

What a wonderful indoor/outdoor garden.
And how yummy your herbs look. I got some salad going real late and then the birds ate it (at least I think it was the birds).
So my plans for eating out of my garden have not succceeded this year.

I love your indoor garden!
I really want to get some spinach started in my garden. I try every year and usually don't have much luck, but maybe this year will be the magic year.
Enjoy your break!

Oh, love your indoor garden and the skylight really gives you just the right amount of sun. I wish I could grow herbs in my house but I think I just don't have enough sun for most of the year. I tried growing cilantro and failed miserably.

Love it and can very much relate to the sun scorch. I have moved things to the most shady part of my deck, and they are still getting a "whoopin'"
Enjoy your time of productivity. I'll very probably be joining you as I'm trying to do fall cleaning.

Hi Manuela, hope you are having a nice little break. Your screened in porch is just gorgeous. Our temps at nite are 95 degrees and we won't get cooler temps until November of December. That's when I am able to grow tomatoes, fresh mint, lettuce, etc. Right now, the heat and humidity is just stifling.
I just love your home. So comfortable and inviting, yet stylish. A friend had those same sofas from Ikea — I should have nabbed them from her when she moved. Like the choice of slipcover colors in order to change things up. I get bored easily with things, so am always changing stuff around, moving furniture, etc. I would like to get to the point of seasonal changes. Gotta get organized first. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.
Best wishes, Tammy
