Hi everyone! I thought I’d share a few photos of the front of my house with you since I just planted some containers.
I painted these concrete containers red this year!

They’re planted with white Geraniums and a lovely chartreuse potato vine.
Pretty much the colors I use inside too. Last year the containers were painted white with red Geraniums and potato vine.
I have two black urns in front that I plant with ferns every year. Mmmm…I think I need to repaint those. Those ferns fill in quickly and pretty much last until October or so.
This is a beautiful rose in front of my family room window. I don’t remember the name of this one as I planted it when we moved in 10 years ago.
Don’t be afraid to use some pops of color in your front yard!
You don’t have to go crazy and have a clown house (no offense to all you clowns out there that read this blog).
But a bit of selective color is nice especially if you can tie it into your house (I have a red door and various red roses).
I’ll take some photos later in the season when everything fills in since it’ll look so different and we can do a before and after.

What a great idea to paint your planters red. I would imagine they would look cute with little flags poked into the flowers for the 4th of July.
Your roses are very pretty too.
I look forward to seeing your "after" pictures.

Hi Manuela–
I agree–great idea to paint your planters. Everything looks ready for spring and summer. You have a lovely home–inside and out.
Mrs.Rabe says
You know how I love red! I like the way you added color into your landscape that is not dependent on flowers being in bloom. I also like they way you give a preview, in the colors you have used, of what your guests will see inside the house!
Great job as always, Manuela!

I like the bright color on your planters. So often planters are kind of drab.
I haven't even planted any annuals yet. Overnight temperatures are still dropping down around frost. Think I'll wait at least another week.

I love your red planters. I planted potato vine one year and it went nuts. I kept cutting it back and in a few days it was too long again. I did not know that stuff was so aggressive. Love your step up entrance.
Laurie Anne says
Manuela your concrete red planters look great! I didn't know you could paint them…did you have to prime them or do anything special?
I LOVE the ferns in the black urns…very classic 🙂

Manuela, beautiful pots and plants. I just love all that color. Love the red pots. I just picked up a can of red spray paint to redo a table once the weather cooperates. Red is definitely my power color. Thanks for sharing.

Love the red planters! I use reds, white and blues outside….it is something that just kind of grew… Originally it was reds, yellows and whites, then the blue started popping up, in pillows, watering cans, etc.

Hi Manuelita. I love that red. It is so you, vibrant. Your roses look awesome and it's so much fun having LOTS of plants. Tee Hee. I was reading your post and my hubbers is off today and he is on his way to Home Depot and he calls and asks me if I need anything. I had just seen your red pots and I told him, "yes, red spray paint or the red paint in a can, lacquer." Tee hee. See what you do. You always inspire me. Take care. I'm trying to catch up on commenting on post. Have a great rest of the week.

You have a beautiful home, and I love the fact that you "change it up" and red planters really rock! Having only a blacony to 'garden' with, I really rely on you and others to help me over the loss of my garden…and you do a fabulous job!

Lovely! I love the geraniums with the potatoe vine, very pretty. I planted a potatoe vine last years, it was growing so beautifully and then one day it was eaten down to the ground! Just before that I happened to glance out my window and see a gopher running away from the plant. After I went out to see if I could see more of it, I realized my vine was gone. I think he's guilty!
Your pops of color are lovely, I am trying to plan my front gardens, I think I will put fuschia colored plants in this year.
Hugs, Cindy S

Your gardens are beautiful! I can't wait to see how they evolve over the summer. The red planters are a perfect pot, I mean pop for your entry. They'll be great to look at all through the seasons, especially Christmas when filled with greens – even empty they'd be a splash of happiness to set your eyes on. Great job Manuela! Chris M
