There’s a lot to be said in favor of wheat bread, multi-grain breads, etc. But sometimes all you want is white bread. Plain, semi-soft, non-chewy white bread to enjoy as a sandwich, or just with butter. Well, you don’t need to go buy an unhealthy commercial version full of additives if you’re craving white bread. Instead, enjoy the healthiest white bread possible- Homemade White Bread!

This homemade white bread is so delicious hot out of the oven with butter on top! You might also want to try it toasted!
Want to make this in a bread maker? I haven’t tried it, but I imagine it would work fine. If you wanted to try, ignore my directions and just put the ingredients in your bread maker in the following order- water, flour, sugar, salt, butter (only 2 Tablespoons, softened), and yeast (make a circular indentation in the center of the flour to put the yeast in, but don’t let it touch the liquid). Then set your machine to “White Bread” or “Basic” and press the start button.
I doubt that this homemade white bread recipe would work with gluten-free flour substituted for the all-purpose flour. Gluten-free bread requires a different liquid ratio, and may be helped by additional ingredients like xanthan gum.
