Hi everyone! Winter has come to Georgia! Brrr…..it’s 10 degrees today and it snowed yesterday.
I went to Hobby Lobby last weekend and was pleasantly surprised that they still had a few Christmas items left. I bought this beautiful garland that looks like branches covered with icicles for $5. I thought it would be perfect for a winter time look on my fireplace.

That garland is pretty but boy is it messy! The minute you touch it about a thousand little beads fall to the ground!
I like to put some of my Mercury Glass on the fireplace in the winter. Since we don’t have the twinkly lights of the Christmas tree anymore, it’s nice to have the sparkle and shine of these candlesticks instead.
I made this burlap banner! I used the tutorial from Bridget at Everyday Chaos and I won’t repeat how I did because I pretty much followed what she said to do. The only thing I did different was I made each pennant and then assembled it. I used silver craft paint because I didn’t have any fabric paint and it worked just fine. I also added the silver Martha Stewart glitter while the paint was still wet. I made a little snowflake stencil to use on the bottom of each pennant.
All I can say is the freezer paper stencils rock! I had read about them last year on Apartment Therapy (can’t remember the project) but I hadn’t used them until now.
You’ve got try that technique! It works so well that I can see myself monogramming all sorts of pillows, runners, napkins etc. using freezer paper stencils
I love it! That banner was soooo inexpensive to make and I think it really looks great on my fireplace. It did take me several hours to make so it does take an investment in time – but not money (isn’t that always the way).
Well I’m staying inside and cleaning my house today. It’s too cold to venture outside! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Absolutely beautiful. If it is not too much trouble would you tell me how you create freezer paper stencils? There are a lot of projects that I would like to do, but I thought the only way was w/ a Cricut. I just love your blog and al of your ideas!

It all looks so beautiful and I may have to try my hand at one of those cute banners. Have a great day and stay warm!

Everything is beautiful.
You and I have the same cement bench! I actually have 2 and on one I put stained glass on the seat. It's a pattern that I designed with a hummingbird and vine. I keep intending to do the other one but since they are in different parts of the yard I don't think it matters any more.
Stay warm!

Your mantle looks gorgeous. Mine is so plain right now and I don't know where to start. I thought of you yesterday because a store had some of your cute cone trees on clearance.

Beautiful. I love the black and pale yellow in this room. I'm thinking one reason I feel I have to add color is because I don't have any color on my walls.

What a great idea to keep your mantle sparkley for the winter! It looks really pretty and the banner is so adorable. Hope that you are keeping warm. Living out in the country our roads are the last to be cleaned, so we are pretty much iced in today.
