Foyer Gallery Wall

Decorating a small foyer is a challenge! A foyer should say something about the people that live in the home as well as being a welcoming place. Hard to do in  a small space.  I don’t have much floor space, as a matter of fact, the only furniture I have in there is this halltree I got at Goodwill - so I go vertical and use my wall space.

So far I’ve painted two walls the new color –  Moonlight yellow from Benjamin Moore. Then I edited and re-arranged some of the dog art that we have above the doorway.

We are animal lovers, especially dogs. So we’ve collected dog art and plates  which I’ve used around the door.  I’m told that’s good feng shui!

Cocker Spaniel Painting

The Cocker Spaniel painting was found at Goodwill back when still had our Cocker Spaniel Buttons.

Golden Retriever Paint by Number

The Golden Retriever painting is a paint by number that my daughter did when she was little  and Maxie ( our Golden who passed away last year) was a puppy.  The old color yellow is still on the wall behind the halltree – which is why the corner looks odd.

I’ve found that iron piece at Goodwill last fall and never had a place to put it until I re-arranged this wall. The 1/2 yard long above the door is a vintage print and the one above that is a reproduction of a vintage print.

So now  I only have two other walls to paint and the stairs to paint and I’m done with the foyer.

I need to hurry up because  it’s been in the 80′s already and the garden is saying hurry up or it’ll be too late and too hot plant anything!

A subtle switch…lighter and brighter…love the yellow and red. I really like the art arrangements around the front door with that great piece topping it all like a pediment. Looks great!

I saw a photo of wall of all paint by number flowers and thought it looked so pretty that I want to do some too! I think that’s a good winter or late summer when it’s too hot to go outside project!

This is a happy space. I like the new yellow–looks like it is a bit softer. Love the pictures and the iron decoration thing. Cool that you have a paint by number by your daughter–love things like this! And yellow and red are so happy!

Yes, it’s a softer cleaner yellow. Looks great in person but photographs somewhat pinky beige sometimes!

LOVE it… I have always liked yellow and you know I love red. My kitchen at Woodberry was yellow, and I am missing it here… Your Entry looks fantastic. I love to get dog paintings and prints and tins… I am glad to see that there is someone else besides me who uses the entire ” blank canvas” of their walls for art expression… I hang art up at the crown molding and down to the baseboard molding. :-) **by the way, I got the scalloped kitchen sink rug at my favorite consignment in Charlotte. Loved the sunflowers on it with the red-yellow and black. It is a very nice one. wool.- the tag on the back says C & F Enterprises, Inc. They have a website. You might find it there…or something else…PRETTY rugs. Hugs to you Manuela.

Looking good, Manuela! You do a great job of making things look very personal without being cloying or overly sentimental. Your house looks like a HOME, not a real estate model. I love that!

And your new blog look is great!
