Some Different Things That I Collect

By Manuela Williams

I  wanted to share some photos of different things that I collect that are part of my decor before I pack them up. I have 4 bookcases in the living room from Ikea that have extenders on the top where I house some of my collectibles.

Fortunately I’ll be able to take the bookcases with me. I’m just not sure I’m actually going to be putting some of these collections back though (not sure I’ll use the extenders). Quite a bit will be sold in the garage sale we’ll be having before we move.

vintage rooster collection

This is my collection of roosters. A few are vintage. The big ones were all found at thrift stores and I think I’m going to sell those.

teapot collection

This is my collection of tea pots.  I’m only keeping 3.

Vintage Mackenzie Childs Courtly Checks teapot

I’m keeping this blue and white transferware teapot, the Mackenzie-Childs teapot (which is over 20 years old and I can’t remember the pattern – Courtly Check?) and the cherry pot-for-one in the first photo.

white pitcher collection

I’m only going to take  2 or 3 white pitchers. I do use a couple of them frequently. Although,  I rarely use the big wide one or the small one. So those and a few others are destined for the garage sale for sure.

mercury glass collection

Lastly some of my mercury glass collection (I have more in the garage).  I like to use mercury glass in the winter so I’ll keep my favorite pieces. But the ones that I’m not so attached to, like the mercury glass decanter in the back of the shelf, will be sold.  Not sure about the globes just yet. 3 are vintage – I may keep those.

I’m packing up the easy stuff first since we’re still waiting on underwriting to approve the buyers loan (don’t want to have to unpack a ton if their loan doesn’t go through). We should know by the end of the week if everything is ok on that front 🙂

Fingers crossed everything is okay with that, Manuela. I know you must be eager to get things packed up and moving forward on this. Love your little teapots. You’re going to get rid of those cute little transferware ones in the back? Love the globes, too. I just found another one a few days ago at the local flea market. It is supposed to be a light up, but the label indicated it didn’t work. I will check that out and I can always cut the cord off it. But now I have three globes in the home office so it is an official collection! : )

I love the colors in globes! Yep getting rid of the cute transferware ones. If you lived closer I’d give them to you 🙂

Hmm, maybe you should have a blog sale. But then you’d have to mail things. You have wonderful collections but I understand that sometimes you are ready to part with things. I used to have lots of roosters and then one day I was just over them. Don’t miss them at all.

LOL! I know! I’m over them too. I don’t really use them anymore. I may sell my vintage ones as a lot when we move – I just don’t have time to run to the post office right now.

I love all of your collections, I have small collections of all the same things. I wish I could come to your sale because I know I would some of your things, but…maybe…it’s a good thing that I can’t? Lol, I am trying to get rid of my extras and TRYING not to buy more right away. DO you think this move will set you in a new direction? Will it be a chance to try something totally new? I, for one, can’t wait to see what you do with a new home to decorate:>)

LOL! Yes, it’s probably just as well 🙂 I’m always trying to get rid of things but then I always find new things to take their place. I hope this move sets me in a new direction. I certainly will have more time since I won’t have such a huge yard to take care of. So I’m planning on taking the time to learn somethings I’ve been wanting to learn and to spend more time on exercise and our diet. I hope to make more things from scratch and I really want to pay down this loan we took out to send Savanna to school so I plan on being super frugal!

Fingers crossed the sale goes through!! I love your collections but I’ve been doing the same thing, downsizing mine and only keeping the pieces I Love Love! The globes are really great and I love the cherry teapot!!
    hugs,
    Linda

Thank you Linda! I love the cherry teapot too. I found it at Goodwill years ago and I’m always looking for another!

I love all of your collections and the way you have them displayed. I especially love your globes. Right now, I have a collection of 2. I don’t find them very often at yard at garage sales and at thrift shops or flea markets, they are rather expensive. The 2 I have, I’ve acquired at estate sales. Yours are so colorful!

Boy howdy do I wish I lived in Atlanta instead of south Georgia. You are going to have the Queen Mother of garage sales with wonderful schtuff. I just know it.
