Valentine’s Decorations & Re-puposing a Potholder

By Manuela Williams

Hi everyone! Just wanted to pop in to let you all know that I’ll be back in March or there abouts. I’m in the home stretch as far as getting my house ready to list and I really need to concentrate on finishing up my bathroom remodel and then just cleaning and depersonalizing.

I’m not packing up my stuff yet so here’s a little bit of Valentine’s decorating that I did do. This is my foyer tree this year.Fabric Heart Valentine Tree
I used the same sticks from last year!! But this year I used fabric hearts instead of the scrapbook paper ones I usually use –  How To Make Hearts From Cereal Boxes.
heartgarland
I replaced my mitten garland with this fabric heart one.

This is not VDay decor but I wanted to show you anyway. I found some vintage potholders last week and I pinned the prettiest one to the center of this pillow. How cute is that! Vintagey toile goodness! LoVE it!

I hope to start looking at houses in a few weeks as well (I need the motivation to keep up this pace)! I’ll do my best to take pics of the contenders! Probably won’t post them until I get back to blogging though.

So, Happy Valentines Day, thank you so much for stopping by and see you in a month or so!

You always have some wonderful things for us to try and they're easy enough that even I think that I might accomplish it. The hall tree is fabulous, but the thing that is really taking my eye is the way you've used the crocheted pot holder. I have skads of them hidden away in drawers. This is just the thing! A perfect way to use them and enjoy them. (I always hated using them as potholders. They don't make good potholders and they're too pretty to get dirty.)

All the best as you get your home ready for the market. Have great fun looking for a new home, too.

Hi Manuela. I've been going through closets and organizing also. Your Vday decor is so cute. Good luck on your house sale (and hunt). Hope it all goes quickly and smoothly. Stay warm!

Hopefully house-hunting will not be very stressful for you and that you will find the perfect house for you and the perfect buyer for your house–
Your "blogging-break" will give me the an excuse to go back thru your older posts when I need some Pleasures of Homemaking motivation.

Hope you will be able to post some pics of the potential houses. I love virtual house-hunting.

It's not usual in the UK to decorate for Valentine – but I do love your tree Manuela, simple, attractive and very effective.
Such a pretty jug of flowers and your pot holder is lovely.
Good luck with the decorating, de-personalising and house hunting. Looking forward to 'seeing' you in March. Until then 'Happy Valentine's'!

I went through this a couple years ago. I hated de-personalizing, esp. my pictures. But it was nice to get rid of so much stuff. I was so exhausted the day we signed the papers to list. That same day I had to have a brain MRI. In all the noise I fell asleep. They kept trying to get me to wake up, hah. It always takes me a couple of hours each night to fall asleep, so this was amazing. Good luck. We are waiting to relist when the economy gets a little better here in Ohio.
