February Book Giveaway & a Question

By Manuela Williams

CLstoragestyle
Hi everyone! Before I get to this month’s book I have question.   Kim left a comment saying that she was having trouble getting my blog to load do to all the pictures and I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue? There are a few blogs that I can’t see at all unless I switch from AOL to Firefox.  Otherwise, I don’t have any problems seeing anyone’s blog (even people with the really huge photos). I have Broadband so I have no idea what it’s like for people with slower connections.  Could you let me know if you are having problems. I’m not really sure what I can do about it, but I’m open to suggestions. Thanks!
 StorageStyle
Now, for this month’s book. I thought that since most of us were in a decluttering/organizing mood right now, that Country Living’s Storage Style book would be a good choice.

SSback
To enter all you have to do is leave a comment and I’ll announce the book winner on Saturday morning.  Everyone is welcome to enter.****Thanks everyone – this giveaway is now closed.

I know I always say this, but I truly appreciate everyone that takes the time to stop by my blog. Especially all of you who make the extra effort to leave a comment.  I know for myself, it’s so much easier and less time consuming  to just read a blog in my various readers and move on to the next one.  So thank you!

Have a great rest of the week. I’ll be working on my closet!

I came to read about "Trays as Art" as that was on my reader…this post had not popped up yet. So, it looks like I get to be first. Maybe that will give me luck 🙂 This is a great selection for this time of year. I have the urge to declutter area of my home right now!

I can't wait to clean my closets and everything in my house for that matter! We're remodeling our kitchen at the end of February and I'm sooo excited:) I will be getting rid of so much stuff that I've figured out I don't use, and there will be more storage space! Sweet! Blessings ~ Margie

Manuela, even though I subscribe to your blog via a reader, I still visit the blog proper almost every day (sometimes several times in a day). I love to look at your pictures, your design is so refreshing, and I really enjoy your blog roll.

Sometimes when I am cleaning house and doing mundane chores, visiting blogs is the reward I give myself after I finish each task. It inspires me to keep going. I ADORED your "Apple Green" post. I keep going to look at it over and over. Beautiful!

Manuela..what is it about winter that has us all organizing and nesting……I have had my eye on this book…and could use the "help" as I have many cabinets and closets….well, everything that I want to get organized……

I have no troubles with seeing your pictures. But I am on a very big screened iMac, so that probably helps.

I sort of "have" to leave comments all the time. 🙂 I always seem to have something to say. And I feel almost "guilty" if I don't comment. 🙂

Take care. have a great wednesday!!!

Manuela, What a great giveaway! Yes, yes, yes I need to declutter & storage ideas would be wonderfuls as my house hardly has any closets. As to the blog, yours always loads well for me. I think the trouble lies when there are a lot of large photos & many days of them versus splitting up those entries into smaller groups & then having the reader click on the link "older posts". Hope that made sense! Anyway, keep it up, yours if the first blog I check daily. home at bcsupernet dot com

What a great book! I only ever enter giveaways when it's something I REALLY like (somehow I feel like I'm saving up my luck for something special :))
I've always wondered if bloggers like you who have over 500 followers really read all their comments, and I hardly ever comment on blogs where there are already so many…it feels so anonymous. To be honest, I mostly enjoy visiting blogs where there aren't too many followers. It feels more personal.
    But I can't help coming here…it's so beautiful. 🙂

    Manuela,
I have daily visited your Blog for quite awhile now and it's the first time I have ever left a comment. I so enjoy all the Blogs out there but yours is definitly in my Top 5! Just a few of the many reasons…I love your style, use of color and the way you pull things together (all your thrifted finds) to me what you accomplish is the real talent of decorating!Sure anyone can decorate with a huge budget, but someone that can take thrifted items – shine them up and repurpose them (which you do) to me that is a real decorator. Sorry this is so long – please keep up the good work and know that so many find enjoyment in your Pleasures of Homemaking. I would also love to win the book!

What a great giveaway!! As for the blog issue, I think it is perfect. You can't design blogs for people on dial up. You couldn't add pictures, theirs is too slow. I wouldn't dream of reading blogs on a dial up. Not to be a snob, but I don't see how you can read blogs without cable internet access. It would take forever for anything to load. Make your blog look like you want it to. We love it just the way it is!! ;0) BTW- your pictures are always great and I would miss them!

In response to your question, I also have problems when there are lots of photos. I figured my old computer just gets overwhelmed after 8 or 10 photos. My daughter and I were loving your Ikea pictures (we don't have one nearby), but unfortunately they didn't all come up. I had the same problem when you posted your top ten projects of 2009–I only saw about 7 or 8 of them. I'm sure it's not your fault in any way–probably just an old computer and/or slow internet connection. Thanks for the chance to win the book. It looks awesome. Have a great day–Kim

I just stumbled on your blog, and have enjoyed blog stalking you.

I am really into organization, and even worse now that there is that silly show hoarders. It makes me nuts, and I want to organize everything in sight. I would love this book.

Yep same here, your blogphoto's often won't load completely. I use firefox and have speedy internet. Maybe you upload your pictures in their original size? Try resizing them, for webuse they don't need to be so big. Or are you hosting them from a different site, that might cause it.
Today your blog loaded just fine btw.

I use google reader and just plain, old blogger to read your blog…no problem with the photos. I need some advice. I saw your disclaimer about using ideas from your blog….if you see something in blogland and make your own version inspired from another's project…do you contact them first before posting? Also, if you just want to put their link in your blog as something you like, would you ask them first?

Hi Manuela, I found your blog while "blog surfing" (a favorite activity of mine) and now it is one of my top favorites. I love your decorating style and your pictures rock! I am in the process of decluttering & organizing my house in order to get ready to sell it (and get a new fresh canvas to start with) and this book looks like it would to take up residence with me. Thanks for such a great blog.

Thankfully no problem at all seeing your blog..I have Fios cable service for my computer. It could be the person(s) having problems could have a computer issue and not a service provider issue. Perhaps if they emptied their computer cache and cleared out all computer cookies it would run faster and better?

I love the first photo! I'd love to have an old style farmhouse kitchen like that.

Please put my name in the draw..it would be a nice resource book to own!

Also, it could have something to do with the size of the pictures you post?
