You know I’m on a mission to re-do my hall bathroom on a budget and one of the things we need is a new sink, taps and vanity. So I’m checking sources beyond just Home Depot and Lowe’s. I’m sure you’ve all heard of Habitat for Humanity. Did you know they run a store filled with donated items at a discount? We went last weekend to see if they had anything we could use and I brought my camera (like any good blogger would)!

This was nice but someone had it on hold – it’s too small anyway.
I wish I had picked up a few of these. They really had a nice selection of molding, doors, windows that kind of thing. Not too much paint and I had read about other’s getting great deals on paint at their Re-Stores.
$49 dollars for that light fixture. I would expect it to be cheaper here!
Pretty isn’t it? I honestly didn’t think the prices were all that good! I still wouldn’t buy most of the things they had there.
They had lots of lampshades and designer sinks.
Check here ReStore US Directory to find one near you. You can also donate building material. So if you’re remodeling instead of just junking your old cabinets etc. donate them.
I have to say I was a bit disappointed. I’ve seen on other blogs where people got beautiful chandeliers for really cheap and cabinets, wallpaper, paint etc. I thought the prices were quite high for most things and the selection wasn’t all that great. But it’s like a thriftstore. It’s all in the timing. So I’ll go again in a few weeks to see how the selection changes.
We had a horrible hail storm yesterday. The worse I’ve ever seen! So I’ll be out in the garden all weekend cleaning up the mess! My poor beautiful lettuce has huge holes in it. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and thanks as always for stopping by!

I haven't been to ours yet either. One thing is at our Salvation Army & Goodwill, they are quite a bit more expensive than the other thrift stores in my area. The items you show you get at your thrift stores are so much better quality than what is ever offered at ours. Just a different part of the country.

hey, as another Atl Metro girl, I can tell you that the best restores are in Cartersville (my personal favorite, I’ve driven there from Lawrenceville more than once.) and Athens.

Oh, I am so sorry about your damage to your lovely garden. How terrible. I’ve never heard of the Habitat ReStore. Thanks for posting about it. Maybe you’ll have better luck when you go back. laurie
Oh, I’m sorry you were disappointed! We have one around here and most are priced reasonably. However, most of the vanities and such are really old and need quite a bit of work. I mostly like it for the wood pieces and shutters.

Keep looking! You’ll find the perfect piece. You (only) have to haunt every thrift store and garage sale around! HAHA!! Sorry about the hail. It happened to us about a month ago. I guess we’ll be getting a new roof soon.

I don’t know if we have one of those around here. I went in a thrift store the other day and it was horrible. I don’t think anyone gets rid of anything around here unless it really is trash.

I’ve never heard of the Habitat Restore.
I was at work when it hailed. My husband called me and told me to try and find shelter for my car.
I’ve been to the Habitat Restore here and I too was not impressed. Even things that were old (like 70’s) and kind of junky were expensive. I guess you have to look at it as donating $ to Habitat for Humanity, but I thought the point was to have discounted items.
I have one in my town. I’ll have to check them out. Sorry about your lettuce! Was it a critter?
Glad to know this….the closest one to me is in Indianapolis, 1.5 hours away. I thought about going to check it out sometime, now I’m not so anxious.

Keep checking weekly, in places like that the merchandise moves fast, and any of the things you saw, they may lower the price on to move them…make more room for more goodies! You’ll find something, I just know you will!
We go to Habitat for humanity every time I go to Lexington to see my daughter. I love that store, I bought a cast iron sink there for $5 and hauled it home in my trunk 600 miles to Arkansas!

I had no idea they have all those nice and brand new things. You are right though. The prices seem high.
I stopped by Goodwill on the way to the grocery store this morning. Their prices have gotten very high. You can still find bargains because they usually price glassware, dishes, etc. reasonably.
They had a large deck table there this morning, no chairs or anything, cost was $199.00!
I think I’ll use my thrift shopping cash for garage sales. They are now cheaper than Goodwill.
We have a Habitat store here but I’ve never been in it. I’ve heard the very same thing, sometimes you get good bargains and other times it is over priced, more than we could afford..
At least the proceeds are going to a good cause.

ThanX for popping by today. My eXperience with Habitat Restore was just like yours ~ I found their prices to be surprisingly eXpensive (as compared to thrift stores), although I appreciate what they do.
I enjoyed my eXtended spring bloggy break. It was a productive time, but I’m happy to be back.
ThanX for the gardening tips. DH built three 4X8′ raised beds for me (cedar) and we’ve prepped the soil with compost. I’m working on what to plant and when, but wish you were here to advise me!

I hadn’t heard of this store before…will have to see if we have one in the area…
I just bought a bird house made by a student…all the proceeds went Habitat for Humanity…it was so nice, they had us sign boards that they will use in homes they build…

Your restore is waaayyy better than ours. Ours has junk!
Our local Habitat Restore is also quite high-priced and the stuff is not usually that great!
I was to one several years ago in Rome, GA with my SIL and MIL and it was pretty reasonable and had a bunch of good stuff the day we were there. I don’t think that store is still open, though.
