Come Shopping With Me & See What I Bought!

By Manuela Williams

Happy first day of spring! Last week was my birthday and I dragged my family all over the place looking for some shelves to put over the chest of drawers in my dining room. One place we stopped in is a favorite store of mine and I took a few photos. I’ll show you what I got there at the end of the post. As to the shelves, I found one lovely one at TJMaxx. But I’ve come to the conclusion that shopping at TJX is like shopping at a thriftstore. It’s hard to buy multiples and they have a lot of nicked and broken things. So we went to Lowe’s and I bought some inexpensive shelves there!

Here are some photos from my favorite store which has thrift store prices!
flower cart for sale
I (and several other people) were eyeing this flower cart.

books cut into the shape of letters

Aren’t these fun! These letters are cut from old Reader’s Digests. I was thinking about the ampersand one but they were all $15, which I felt was too much to pay.  I found a few tutorials on line on how to make them so I think I’ll have my husband make me one.

Here’s a vintage scale and big carrot wrapped in twine planted in a little urn. The scale was $30 I think – which is not bad for that size scale. But took the photo because of the carrot!

vintage fireplace surround

This vintage fireplace surround is just amazing!

4 tiered side table

I’ve always wanted one of these tables.

turtle shells for sale

They were selling turtle  shells and hornets nests!

chicken coop

They had a chicken coop for sale for $249!

vintage coca cola crate

I bought a old Coca-Cola crate which I’m using to hold some books right now.

vintage rooster planter

I,  of course,  love the red and I live in the land of Coca-Cola (Coke headquarters are in Atlanta) so I had to get a Coke crate and not any other soda crate!

Ikea bookcase with old Coke crate

I had a fun day thrifting and think my old Coke crate is going to be fun to decorate with!

Happy Belated Birthday, Manuela! What a great shop. Love that flower cart. My decisions on getting things like that are easy to make these days living in the condo. : ) I could just see that little chicken coop outside your veggie garden! Love the coke crate ~ it fits on your shelves perfectly and looks great holding books. I’m looking forward to seeing the shelves you got at Lowe’s, too.

That fiireplace surround is gorgeous! Judy would love the Coke crate. She’s a coke-a-holic. I drink sweet tea. She scrunches up her face is distaste. She drinks coke. I love everything you decorate. And of course the colors!

Hi Angela, oh it’s no secret 🙂 I’ve blogged about it many many times. It’s the Classy Flea by the Big Chicken

      What’s your favorite place?

Thank you! My all time favorite place is Hollyhocks in Talking Rock. It is a bit of a drive but sooo worth it. The owner is a sweetheart. She has bits of old and new mixed in and really good prices. You would love it- it is “our” taste! Have a nice day. Eh, cold again. : ) Angela

Lots of goodies there! Love your Coke crate (naturally) – Brenda gave me one and I made a fairy garden out of it. There’s so much you can do with those.

    Fun trip. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for taking us shopping with you!

Lots of interesting things is that shoppe. I love the chicken coop, and that mantel. The coke crate is great! Perfect color and tie in to where you live. It’s nice with the books in it. It’s fun that you put it on the bookshelf.

Happy Spring and happy belated birthday!

happy belated birthday Manuela, loved the shopping trip. Hahaha I wish we really could do that together it would be too much fun. Loved the chicken coop…kind of funny…we have hundreds of chickens….and the truth is they are a bit messy…not too cute like that coop in the store. Anyhoo….I’m off to wash eggs for my hubby today he is out of town. Have a great day!
    Blessings,

The Coke crate is just wonderful. There were so many neat items I would not have been safe, well my wallet wouldn’t have been safe.

You saw some wonderful things while shopping, I love your COKE crate and sure wish I could find one like that, it would really go with all of the red that I have in my house.
Have a wonderful day and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! My b’day is tomorrow!
Interesting, but quite a few of the decorating bloggers have had birthdays this month. March girls just naturally become homebodies who love to fluff their nests, I’m thinking.

I love the white rocker out in front of that store. And love your Coke crate, too. You know that tiered white table that you want? I have one and it’s in my basement, covered in dust!! It’s 3-tiered, not 4 like that one in the photo. And it’s still in its original mahogany state, so it needs to be painted. I honestly have nowhere in my home to use it right now, so that’s why it’s in the basement!

What a wonderful place! I loved seeing the things you found there. Your Coca-Cola box is wonderful. I recently bought a Pepsi box and my sweetheart just hung it on the wall for me. I’ll share more about it soon. I love the books in yours – it’s perfect!

I would be drawn to so many of the things you found, especially that chicken coop. Where I would put a 250 dollar chicken coop, I do know know. LOL

Love what you did with the coke crate, and you are right. No other brand would do!

And btw, what is this about google reader? I come here from my own sideboard so I think that will be OK. But, what’s up?
