Well I finally got around to working on my china cabinet this weekend. At least I did the first shelf!
Last year I made a cardboard template of the back of each shelf and covered the cardboard with some scrap toile that I have. For the summer I took the cardboard out and lined the back with some pretty green wall paper samples. All summer those cardboard backs were stored in my closet. It was so easy to just pop them back into the cabinet! Try that if you don’t want to tape anything directly to your cabinet backs

That little wooden thing is a plate holder.
The turkey plate is Myott Thanksgiving and the little bowl Johnson Brother’s Watermill.
The large and small plate are Johnson Brothers Old Britain Castles.
Most of the other pieces are Johnson Brothers The Friendly Village. I didn’t even put all of it out! I may mix some in with the red transferware which is next or I may just store it as I usually use my brown transferware for Thanksgiving Dinner. Yikes…when I’m re-arranging my dishes it always seems so excessive to have so many but I really do love each piece!

Ihave 2 glass pie safes and one tin punched, My glass pie safe need painting inside and this just maybe the solution, I need. I have some fabric with rooster and farm, looks sort of like toile, I love you toile! Your dishes are so lovely, but I have alot of patterns in my collection , so I will just have to admire yours and keep adding to my collections.

You are SO creative. Have I told you lately that I’m glad you are blogging again? 🙂
I just started collecting the brown transferware dishes a couple years ago. As with most collections, it all started when I found a couple of dishes at Goodwill and the rest is history.
I had a chance to get a teacup or two with that first find and now I’m really sorry I didn’t.
Your collection is beautiful!

Beautiful fall display of your transferware. I love your idea of popping in and out the paper or fabric backing. I may have to give that a try to my old secretary that I painted last year.

Oh, I LOVE the brown transferware. I have some Friendly Village and a few other odd pieces, but yours looks soooo lovely all mixed up like that! I may have to try that! I would love to have some of the turkey plates! They seem to be coming out with all kinds of Friendly village pieces these days. Have you seen the Victorian Ice skating pieces? Saw them recently at TJMaxx and should have gotten them!

Manuela, I just love the idea of the covered cardboard. I love to change so much that this would be a very easy alternative to taping or gluing. Thanks for the idea.
Your brown transferware is just awesome. The brown and red are my favorites. I’d love to find the purple around here but I haven’t other than on ebay so I’ll stick with brown and red.
Thanks for the inspiration, once again.

OMG, Manuela! I was just thinking about you the day before yesterday and thought about trying to see if I could find your email address to ask if your dh had found another job. Then, today, I was scrolling through comments on Rue’s peanut butter and jelly life blog and saw the name “Manuela.” I clicked on it just in case it was you and it was!!
