We had an on and off rainy stormy day yesterday so I was puttering around inside. I have a new lithographed tray to add to my collection and I don’t know quite where to hang it just yet. So I thought I’d place it on the bureau that holds my dining room linens.

I also polished the silver yesterday.
My new still life tray. I’ve been collecting these trays for years and they’re very hard to find. Yet, occasionally, they show up at yard sales and thrift stores!
I like a little tarnish on my silver but these were so tarnished you couldn’t even tell they were silver!
I was able to get a lovely bouquet of yellow and white flowers from Kroger on clearance the other day. The bouquet was so big I was able to divide the flowers into three vases! I thought the little white creamware pitcher with the white daisies looked nice and fresh with the silver.
If you’re new here and would like to see the rest of my lithographed tray collection in my dining room you can go to this post.
Thanks for stopping by today!

I love that tray Manuela! It’s gorgeous. I have noticed all your beautful trays in your posts and you have a lovely collection. I must take a picture of the antique one I have and post on it. It’s very large and heavy! Your silver looks brilliant all polished. Quite a job!

Oh look at that silver shine! I like tarnish as well, but when it gets too far gone, a nice polish is lovely. Great find on the tray. I’ve not found any yet and I’ve been looking ever since I started reading your blog. I have one lonely and rather unattractive one my nan had, but nothing as rich and fine looking as the ones you find. Different corners I guess.

I think it looks very pretty as the backdrop for the silver .
We had a nice shower yesterday, but it did not cool things down like I had hoped it would.

Manuela, Your new tray looks so rich as the backdrop for your stunning silver! What a gorgeous still life. I too collect tray. I look for handpainted trays and have a collection in my bathroom downstairs.
Pairing them with your silver was a brilliant idea.

Love the tray as a backdrop to your silver. It’s just perfect there. I’m so fond of grocery store flowers, too. I think they’re the perfect frugal way to spread sunshine all over the house.
We are having the rain too. No complaints here!

Manuela,
Your trays are so beautiful! Are they made of a type of wood or metal?
Thank you for sharing your creativity. Very inspiring to someone like me who
lacks the creative gene 🙂

Hi….been thinking of you lately. I remember when you were giving tips on saving money on water and etc. We are in a severe drought out here in West Texas and our city is running out of water. We are asked to conserve as much as possible. We haven’t been put on WATER RESTRICTIONS yet but they ARE charging us an arm and a leg for usage. My lawn is totally brown now. Being on Social Security, we don’t have the money to be able to use a lot of water. Besides, I feel like a fool, watering my lawn, when our drinking water is in danger. ANYway, all this made me think of you.:)
I see you changed the name of your blog..very nice. And, I have always loved yur tray collection.:)

Do you have rain barrels? I have three and they come in handy for watering my flowers etc. I don’t use the water on my veggies as it contains whatever is in the shingles on my roof (forget the chemical name). But it’s perfectly fine for flowers or washing my hands after gardening or painting – stuff like that. I wouldn’t wash dishes I eat off of. You can ask around or look on craiglist for food grade barrels that are given away for free (pickles, beer, etc). There are lots of tutorials on the net on how to convert these barrels into rain barrels. Anyway, I sent you an email but wanted to offer that suggestion to anyone else in the same situation.

It’s beautiful! I hope I can learn to decorate the way you do. Thank you for sharing this idea. Kathi

Ohhh Manuela…such gorgeous treasures…they look so luxurious and the shine is inspiring me to (almost 😉 put the elbow grease to my recent estate sale finds!!! That being said, I’m a tarnish girl through and through but a pewter/grey tarnish not the yellow (as Monique at LaTabledeNana pointed out)!
You are just so talented in so many areas. I really can’t wait to catch up on your blog but have had family in from town all week and can only sneak it bits and pieces of computer time!
Love,
Tracey
