I’m Seeing Red….

By Manuela Williams

All around my home! It’s my favorite color. Although I don’t like to wear red (I prefer aqua and shades of blue) so there goes the “look in your closet to help you pick colors for your home” theory!!
redrooster
Whenever I see a room done with lots of red it just makes my heart beat faster!

carnations
Red is such an intense color that I like to mix it with white and yellow. Here are red carnations in a white milkglass vase by my sink (next to my other favorite accent color – apple green).

&
I like to sprinkle the red around – some red in a bookcase.

boxes
sconce
The red crystals on the vintage wall sconce. The walls aren’t really such a bright yellow! The color is closer to the photo below (Squished Squash by Benjamin Moore because I know someone will ask).

curtains
The curtains in the living room.

cups
In the china cabinet.

Ballfringe
On the china cabinet my favorite pom pom fringe!

painting
A favorite print at the top of the stairs.

Just a few (you know there’s more!) glimpses of some of the reds in my home.

Hope you all have a great week and thanks so much for spending some time with me! It’s always lovely to read your comments!

I love your red too. I always adore homes that have red. But I don't have any in my own. But that is about to change. I bought an old cabinet that I am going to make into a chalk board. Since it will be hanging on a white door, I don't want a white edge. So I bought my first can of red paint & will be painting it red. Hopefully it won't take me a year to do it. Thanks for giving me the motivation to add some red to my kitchen.

Red on the head doesn't wear red, but she does use it as an accent color in our home. Why? Red's my sweetie's favorite color!

I LOVE Red! Mostly splashes of it in the yellow kitchen and the family room, and then the darker red in the Dining Room. This is great. I did a post on my favorite BLUES in my house and asked for other's favorite colors. And here you told me! Love the reds and yellows. Great post! Hugs Manuela.

Manuela, you have such unique and creative ways of making vignettes. I love all of your special little touches that add up to such a lovely home. Those red toile boxes are so pretty, but then you tied them with the checked ribbon, and made them look even more special. Painting the rooster red was genius. I would never have thought to do that, and he looks great! The pom pom fringe on the shelves – another fabulous extra touch. I just love coming to see what you've been doing in your home. laurie

Love your touches of red, Manuela! It's not overwhelming, which sometimes can happen when someone likes a particular color. I think that mixing it with white works very well ~ especially with a toile drape or transferware dish.

Red looks lovely in your home though I tire of it easily in my own, except on china, of course.

I never knew about the theory of looking in your closet to find your home's color scheme. My house would be all black and white!

I love a room with red too, and my favorite combination is red with white and pale yellow. I'm most fond of the deep reds like the ones you tend to use. I actually think that's the first thing that drew me to this blog.

I really want to do a yellow with red kitchen as my next BIG project. And it will be a big one all right…

I'm with you! I LOVE red and I worry that I have too much of it in my house! I am so drawn to red in pictures and magazines. I do like to wear red as it is a good color for me, however, I don't like to stand out in the crowd and you WILL with red on!

I love and adore red too. You can find it in every room in my house except my daughter's room. But isn't pink just a lighter red? 🙂 My front door is even red. But can you believe that my favorite color is blue and then green and then red? I guess red just makes me feel very cozy and warms my heart. I bet it does the same for you. Thank you for sharing.

I so enjoy your red vignettes Manuela. We live in a more muted palette but this is only because the reds are just too warm for where we live in southern california…most of the time…but that doesn't keep me from appreciating them vicariously through your charming blog!
