Kitchen Tools

Instructions

Donut Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Lightly spray a donut pan with nonstick cooking spray, or lightly butter it.
  3. Begin by sifting 1 ½ cups of flour into a mixing bowl. Most flour has been pre-sifted, but as you can see in the photo there are bound to be lumps. Discard them.
  4. Add sugar, salt, baking soda, baking powder and cocoa to the flour.
  5. Give everything a stir so the dry ingredients are all incorporated together.
  6. Now crack in an egg, and add the vegetable oil, buttermilk, and vanilla.
  7. Begin mixing until the batter is combined and free of lumps. It will be thick.
  8. Gently spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each reservoir about halfway full.
  9. Place the donut pan on a cookie sheet to prevent oven spills.
  10. Bake at 375 for 8 to 9 minutes. This would be a good time to mix up the glaze.
  11. Remove the donut pan and let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Then transfer them to a cooling rack.
  12. When the donuts are cool (wait about 30 minutes) you can glaze them.

Glaze Directions

  1. 1. Pour 1 cup of powdered sugar into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add vanilla, cocoa, and 1 Tablespoon of heavy cream to the powdered sugar.
  3. Add 4 drops of each color of food coloring.
  4. Begin mixing until smooth.
  5. You can add more heavy cream if needed to achieve the desired consistency. Keep stirring until smooth.
  6. Dip the donut into the glaze and immediately move to a cooling rack to allow the glaze to dry.
  7. Top the donuts with some fun Halloween sprinkles, serve, and enjoy!
