I was saying on the ACN facebook page that I’m starting to plan my fall garden and how I wish summer was over! Usually I try to enjoy each season without rushing the next, but this summer has just been brutal. I think we’ve had a handful of days that were actually enjoyable (weather wise). I feel like we’re all just trying to survive until September!

I’m so ready to take my summer wreath off my front door and change out my flowers on my foyer halltree to autumn leaves or something!
All summer I’ve had my wicker fishing basket, that I found at Goodwill last year, filled with different yellow and red faux flowers. I know some people don’t like using faux flowers but I like to. I think moderation is the key (just like with most things).
My daughter says the hat is something Madeline would wear! It’s one I found at the thrift store and I added what I thought was a summery ribbon.
This halltree is one of my favorite thriftstore finds. I can’t imagine my tiny foyer without it now.
It seems like most of the U.S. has been dealing with record breaking heat this summer. So I’m sure I’m not the only one wishing for fall!
Thank you for your well wishes. My husband is feeling much better, my daughter and I are still sick with a sinus cold. But since it’s been going on a week now I’m sure we’ll feel better soon. Maxie our Golden was very ill at the same time as us and had us very worried since he was throwing up and breathing oddly. It turned out to be primarily an allergic reaction to something unknown and an over abundance of yeast in his gut. After daily antibiotics and Benadryl, he’s also feeling much better and back to his annoying yet lovable self. However, he must now have greek yogurt everyday – doctor’s orders. Which he’s very picky about. He’ll only eat Cabot Greek Yogurt and no other!

Manuela,
Love your front foyer! I do understand what you mean about wanting fall decorations. I pulled a few harvest items out and I usually wait for Sept 1.
I can’t wait to see what you do for your fall garden and your shed.
I am glad you all are on the mend.
Hugs,
Donna

I’m right there with you, Manuela! I feel like there are brief periods during the year that are really enjoyable, a small “window” in Spring and then Fall. I don’t even hate Winter, it’s just the snow I can’t stand! I love your hat and picnic basket! I’m sure by the time we are settled, I’ll be able to bring out my Fall decor. Right now I’m trying to play it out in my head where pieces will fit and my hall tree is one of those pieces. I’m hoping I can bring it, but I am going to have to be ruthless, not just for what will downsize, but to take into account moving costs.

I’m sorry you all have been unwell, even Maxie! Glad you were able to get some help for him.
I love your foyer – I don’t have one. I think your flowers are looking falllish. I can’t wait for fall either! Our summer started in April, I think! So hot for so many months now. This week has been a lovely break but it is going to get humid again….
Debby Messner says
Very nice. I need you to decorate my home.
Hope all are on the mend now. Makes me wonder if my doggie had something similar. She was breathing really hard and seemed so congested. Better now, but we have been concerned.
Bring on the Fall. Enough of the heat. We are having cooler temps. just 80’s and loving it.
Marty@A Stroll thru Life says
Oh I so agree, I am more than ready for summer to be over. Love the halltree and the flowers. So pretty. Hugs, Marty

Yes, Please, a bit of Autumn! Your foyer is so inviting and warm.
I’m so sorry to hear you have all been ill. Take good care of yourselves, and rest well.

I can perfectly understand your desire for autumn even as I continue to hope for more summery days…cool ones…probably like the autumn ones you wish for. I have always loved faux flowers if they are lovely as yours always are so thank you for giving me permission to use them I can tell anyone that “Manuela says they’re ‘okay.'” Love that Madline hat. Sweet.

Glad you are on the mend. Summer in GA has been brutal….and long. I’m ready for lower humidity and cooler nights. The wicker basket is adorable. What a great thrift store find.

You’d better believe I’m ready for fall, Manuela!! This summer has been too hot and too long to suit me. Of course, I know that’s what we should expect in the South, but the whole country seems to have suffered this year!
I agree with you about the silk flowers. Using them in moderation can be a great thing. And it’s so nice that they never wilt!
Nadine says
Here in the Northwest, it seems like we have had hardly any summer at all. All week it has been gray, with very little sun. It already feels like it is transitioning into fall weather. I don’t mind missing out on all the heat of the rest of the country, but I do wish that the gardens were producing better, oh well…maybe next year! 🙂
Blessings!

Your pictures are just gorgeous, but that’s because your hall tree … your fishing box … your flowers … your hat … your doggie picture are all gorgeous!!! I’m with you, brutal summer and it’s time for fall to come along. I’m gearing up to begin another homeschool year … very soon. Summer is fun but doesn’t it seem to drag on, in a way? We do better if we have something pushing us to get done.
Thanks for sharing your absolutely beautiful foyer beauty.
Hugs,
Mary

It has been hot here too. We are finally having a few days in the low 80’s and it feels wonderful. In fact we are hoping to eat outside under the pergola tonight. I have been thinking about my fall veggie garden too.
Love your foyer…

Hi Manuela, I agree with you about the heat – unbelievable! I don’t think there’s been a day with a high below 90! Love the colors of your entry, and especially the fishing basket with faux flowers…..they look real to me! Linda

I think I’ve told you or others at least, that the Pacific North Western USA has finally been getting summer. They have had rain and cool weather all summer until about Aug. 1st, then things began to get better. Too bad moderation doesn’t work when it comes to weather. Not too hot or too cool anywhere all summer long, wouldn’t that be wonderful?
Our weather here in Manitoba has been AMAZING!!! I have never seen such a perfectly beautiful, pleasant summer as this one. And I have enjoyed it so much. I went for a long walk today, it was too lovely to stay inside.
Your faux flowers are lovely, as is the hall tree. I have one like that that I want to paint, every time I saw I’m going to my husband says something about it being wood…and what else would it be?! Golden oak just isn’t my favorite thing, though, know what I mean?
Love and hugs, cindy

I always enjoy your pretty photos, and so agree that silk flowers are fine in moderation.
We have had so many crazy hot days, 110+, and it only cools off at night to maybe 84-85. The recordkeepers say that Oklahoma has just had the hottest July of anywhere, anytime since records have been kept.
But, we’ve had rain for 4 days in a row and the heat is down to the mid 90s -feels like spring almost.
your quirky dog would get along just fine with our quirky puppy, gotta love them!

I’m soo glad I’m not the only one sick of summer & looking forward to fall! Your flowers are beautiful …and I’m glad your family is doin better!

I love that hall tree, too. I did have to laugh about the dog only eating a particular kind of greek yogurt. Our two elderly cats (who have now passed on) were as particular as any Food Network gourmet. We would remind them we had neither the patience nor the pocketbook for their preferences but usually gave in to them, anyway.
So far Victoria has per preference for kibble but hasn’t come up with anything “interesting”. 🙂
I do hope you are feeling better. The brutal heat this year has been awful here and I know it is worse in your area.

I have been so hot this Summer! It has been miserably hot! I also try to enjoy the moment and not rush the Seasons! BUT, I am ready too:) Love your hall tree! Great find, I am sure it looks different than when you found it! Have a blessed evening, HUGS!
Victoria says
YES, we are just hanging on till September!!! It is unbearably hot in Atl this year.
I think your fake flowers look just perfect and yes, that hat does look like something Madeline would wear. 🙂

It definitely has been a rough summer in Utah too. We still don’t have tomatoes! Maybe next week we’ll get a couple to ripen. I’m looking forward to a little cooler weather too. Mimi

Hi Manuela, Your foyer and mine are about the same size! I really like your mirrored hall tree and am amazed it fits. I couldn’t fit one in our entry! The flowers and straw hat are sweet. I hope you and yours including the dog are feeling better and that cooler weather will be yours to enjoy soon. We have not had very nice days here – a lot of rain and cloud and coolness – so we are hoping for more hot sunny days before summer is done. Blessings and hugs. Pamela

Ya gotta love a dog with good taste! Glad you are all feeling better!
I stopped at Michael’s today and picked up fresh artificial flowers for my wall wreath for the porch. We are seeing yellow leaves twirling in the breeze…. and, it is time for school to start so surely that means fall. Right??
I love your fishing creel! Such a pretty arrangement. It would look nice with fall leaves, too, don’t you think?? 🙂

It’s been a very very hot summer and I too am looking forward to cooler weather. I love your hall tree and all the decorations surrounding it. It will be nice to get the Fall arrangements out soon.
Glad to hear you’re all feeling better.

Love the pix!
Like Max, I too MUST (ahem) have yogurt every day, but the yogurt here in Manila isn’t as good quality as in the U.S. Like Max, ALL my systems work much better and each day seems complete with yogurt.
Got yogurt?

I’m glad to read your husband is feeling better.
PS: Love the hat. Might just start looking for one!

I was thinking this weekend I should get my faux Fall flowers out, as the real ones are about fizzled out. Thanks for stopping by. I think the glads were either picked to soon or in cold storage to long. Ended up pitching them as they started dying.
Have a great week.

I can’t say i am longing for autumn yet, the weather has cooled here in MIchigan and the days and nights are delightful. I think it’s cool enough to pull out the fire pit and have some fires at night! I have always loved your hall tree and the many ways you decorate it. Love that basket!
By the way, Greek yogurt is expensive! We make our own in the crock pot, started with greek yogurt form the store and get about 1/2 gallon for the price of a gallon of milk! It’s very easy and it comes out great. Check my recipe page, I’m going to put the link up there for anyone who wants it:>) Feel all better soon!
