DIY Saturday: Make a Herb Tower

This container herb garden would be a great project for those that have little outdoor gardening space since it’s designed vertically. You could do a tower of herbs you make teas with or do themed culinary pots (Italian/French/spicy). You could also add some nasturtiums (which are edible) for some color or make one tier lettuce –  there are so many ways you could use this space saving idea from Home Depot! You could grow quite a bit of herbs in this herb tower!

I would try to group herbs that have the same watering requirements together and something like mint or lemon balm (that spreads easily) I’d put  in the top container by itself unless you want lots of that herb.

Directions

Home Depot has a short video explaining how to put this together and also a pdf that you can download. Seems very easy and once it fills in should be quite stunning!

  1. That is a very clever idea!

  2. Thanks for sharing. I need to show that to my daughter as she is growing herbs again this year.
    Enjoy your weekend!

I also will show this to our daughter, she’d love this. She’s a much better cook and experimenting than her Mother. I’d like to try growing some lemon balm and couple other herbs that are supposed to be good for person with lymphedema. Great post Happy weekend

  4. Love it:) I am going to do some flower planting next week! I need some color around my yard! Enjoy your weekend dear Manuela, HUGS!

  5. I would love to do this. I have so many stupid, empty, random pots out back that I probably wouldn’;t even need to buy new ones. What a mess I can make with my black thumb.

    • Well if you have so many pots then you should definitely give this a go or make one of those tipsy pot things! I was at Home Depot the other day and they have a boxed kit to make a tower. I didn’t even bother to look at the price.

  6. I’ve seen this and thought it’s a great idea not just for space saving but it’s very dramatic and decorative. Thank you for the reminder Manuela…now if only Sprng will get here!!

Thank you Doreen! It is rather dramatic (at least once all the flowers fill in). I’m going through all my pots to see if I have the right sizes to do this without having to buy new pots.
